I get an urge for something spicy like a lamb madras now and again but after about a quarter of the meal my craving subsides and I dont enjoy it half as much as the first few bites.

Why is this?

I have changed my lifestyle to a low-carb, active regimen that is really working for me. However, I love to create good meals and I have fallen into a bit of a rut. I want to make some sauces and gravies from the rich broths that come from cooking poultry and beef, but the cornstarch and flour I usually use are very high in carbs. I may be asking an impossible question, but does anybody know of anything that is low-carb and can thicken sauces.

I have made it before and it tastes great, but the middle is still semi-uncooked while the outside is done. Do the dates need to be soaked first or not?

What is it and what is it made out of? All it says is, "Country Crock."
And whats the best advice on spreading it onto the bread, since I am not a very good cook.

we moved to tn. 7 years ago and can't find a chinese resturant that serves butterfly shrimp. The place we used to go to in N.Y. had a great recipe where the shrimp were dipped in a batter with bacon attached and then served over a large bed of sauteed onions with a rich brown sauce. Sure would love to be able to duplicate it here at home.
