Via email, my inlaws invited us on Friday morning for dinner Saturday night. We accepted by return email. On Saturday morning, we received another email asking if we would kick in $20 for the turkey since it cost $80. A turkey costs $80?!!!

Do you think it's wrong to ask us to kick in for the dinner AFTER we accepted the invitation?
A friend asked why are they even having people for dinner if they can't even pay for it???

Oh, and I did offer to bring something along with the original acceptance just in case you're wondering.

You know, when you open a soft drink eg Coke, Pepsi, whatever, and you can't finish it, then you decide to leave it in the refrigerator and come back to it later and YUCK! it tastes like crap because there's no more CO2 in it left. How do you retain the "freshly-opened" taste?

Does it mean I didn't add enough (or too much) flour, or water, or didn't bake it long enough?

Here are the ingredients I used:
2 cups of flour
1 tsp of yeast
1 tsp of sugar
1 cup of lukewarm water

I mixed it in a bowl and kneaded it for 5 mins. Then I let it stand and rise for 45 mins. Then I baked it at 375F for 30 mins. I was afraid to bake it longer because it looked like it's starting to burn. When I took i tout, it seemed to sort of collapse. The taste was pretty good, but the dough was too sticky for my liking.

So what went wrong?

As a muslim we cannot use Alcohol in our cooking. Many recipies I would like to try contain Alcohol, wine campari etc. What can I use instead? I know I could try not adding anything but I find that the foods really miss that 'Je ne se qua'.

Want to hear the worst thing ever done to an angry customer?
In the restaurant business Ive seen people food get spit in, people putting urine in peoples drink with an eye dropper, bugs smashed into food but this I saw took the cake. This guy was totally rude and complained that he ordered his steak medium rare and it came out medium. Well an angry chef heard he took a steak to the employee bathroom and rubbed it all over the inside of the toilet bowl, cooked it rare and sent it back out. It was crazy. What do you think of that?
