I've been vegetarian for around 17 years now and it was the best choice I ever made.

I think it depends on the person. I was a meat eater for the first 20 years of my life and now it's been 4 years since I've been a vegetarian. For me it was a good decision and I make sure I get all the nutrients I need. But being a vegetarian doesn't necessarily mean that you're healthier. You still have to watch what you eat. Overall, I enjoy being a vegetarian especially now since many more options are available to vegetarians when eating out.

Well it depends, but for a child, i would recommend to be a meat eater as some meat has all the protein and nutritious things in that which the child need to grow up big and strong. Other than that, being a vegetarian could be a better choice.

The reason people think vegetarians are healthier is because most people who eat meat dont eat balanced diets and eat to much food like mcdonalds. The reason that there are more people who eat meat that have diabetes and are obese is because how unhealthy a lot of food is in this time. Both can be healthy if a person who eats meat eats a balanced diet they can live just as long and possibly longer than a vegetarian.

Yup, moderation between the two is a good idea. You can do the egg and dairy addition, or the fish addition, but that just seems like being a picky eater, and not a true vegetarian. Protein is very energy dense, as is fat.....so therefore, those consuming mass amounts of meats and whatnot, tend to have less of a grasp on their actual energy intake. So, it probably pays to be a picky eater, mostly vegetables and high protein grains, with moderate additions of animal proteins, especially lean ones.

I personally feel better now that I don't eat meat. I've been vegetarian since I was 11 and I am 19 now and I have never had a Dr. or anyone else tell me that I am unhealthy. No medical professional has ever questioned my choice to not consume animals. I hope that helps you :-)

I think that it is really a matter of opinion. I know of lots of people that are meat eaters that are very healthy, and the only vegetarian that I have ever know was not. The key is watch what you do eat, and moderation on what you eat, and also on how your meals are prepared. Frying things every day is not good for you, baking or grilling is better. It is just how you eat, that will get you in the end...

It's a personal choice. Certainly a diet including meat has higher protein but that doesn't mean that a vegetarian diet is unhealthy. i feel better for being a vegetarian and love fresh fruit and vegetables but that doesn't mean i think anyone, including my husband and daughter, should give up meat unless they choose to do so on their own.

Either can have a healthy life. It just depends on the individuals opinions and tastes as to whether they are vegetarian or a meat eater.

Studies have shown that vegetarians live an average of 7 years longer. I've been a vegetarian for 4 years and it's been great!
