Technically no. The fridge is designed for making room temperature food cold or keeping cold food cold. Hot food will radiate heat, making your fridge work harder and raising the temperature of other foods to an unsafel level. This especially goes for big containers of things with a lot of liquid. It's best to cool down food rapidly by immersing the container in ice water that is rapidly circulating around it.

The real answer: I always put hot food in the fridge. Just tonight I put a big steaming container of freshly-made chili in there, and I did the same thing last week. Haven't gotten sick once.

safe or unsafe for what,it steams up the fridge some what and it is best to let it cool first ,but if you are on the way out and wont be back for a while ,and the cat is waiting for a chance to get at it ,put it into the fridge hot .

in principle it is not good for the workings of the fridge
it does not affect the food.

Not really a good idea, the heat from the food raises the internal temperature of your fridge making the motor work harder, bad for the fridge. Also it can promote the growth of bacteria on your food.

No, for all the reasons given above.

But even if you escape the bacteria or other spoilage factors that other people have written about, your food will end up all soggy and watery because the steam condenses and all ends up as liquid on the bottom of your container. Let your food cool with the cover OFF at least until it stops steaming.

It's okay for the food. But you run the risk of having your fridge work harder to bring the temp back down. Higher energy consumption.

No iy is noy safe. the outside of hot fppd cools rapidly and the centre cools slowly so the food can actually rot from inside

you should use a pot holder or something so the hot dish does not come in direct contact, and it is not really all that good for hot glass to have a temp shock to go cold all of the sudden

If you have glass shelves you will not want to put in something so hot that it will thermally shock the glass and shatter it. It would have to be pretty hot to do that though. I have gotten glass so hot rapidly that it shattered before. It's best to avoid it.
