Friends - September 2007

I have been divorced for almost a year. We moved to a new town not long before we split up. I really don't have friends.

It is not realistic to make friends at work - I am the boss, and most of my employees are 10-20 years younger than I am.

I am not a church-goer.

I need suggestions on ways to get out and make new friends.

I'm so lonely. I'm a freshman in college across the country from where my family is. My sister, who used to be my best friend, won't talk to me on the phone, but right now I need her so much.

I live in a triple, and my two roommates click with each other, but not so much with me. I don't want to go to parties because I don't drink and I have a lot of social anxiety. I just feel very lonely and depressed all the time. I began looking for Sufjan Stevens tickets in my college's city, to lure my sister, but then I cried when I found out that he wasn't playing in Oct. this year, but that he played in Oct. last year. I felt stupid thinking I could bribe her, but I miss her so much. I'm worried about her too. She got her GED (she's 16) because she was having lots of problems. She's brilliant too, and she wants to go to college, but she doesn't think she can get in. I don't know if she's jealous of me, because I'm in college and that I'm going to where she would like to have gone.

there's this girl I haven't seen in a few years that won't stop sending me messages on myspace. i wrote her back the first few times catching up on old times - like married, 2 kids, happy home. but now she seems obsessed and writes stuff like "i know you saw my last message - write me back" and "i'm disappointed, it's been a whole day since you've emailed me". i don't want to hurt her feelings by deleting her, but it's awful annoying - any advice?

Okay, whenever one of my freinds who is 2 years younger then me (we went to grade school together and all lived down the street from eachother) throws a party they bring some of there HS freinds from there class.

Theres this girl, I THINK she MAY have been giving me some signals or something like that (Laughing at jokes, talking to me ect...). IDK really, but ahh its hard to explain. I would like to get to know her better but I can't remember for the life of my what her name was.

I had an Art class with her when I was a senior, so she knows who I am from somewhere other then our freinds.

the real problem comes with that since they are 2 of my best and oldest freinds, they know me, and they know how I get around girls, and they also know the brooding they are gonna have to deal with from me ect ect ect.... (BUT THATS IN THE PAST)

So I just need some tips on how to get them to drop some information I can use to try to get to know this girl or something like that.

By intimidate, I mean that they're older than me and I think they'll find me boring. I'd love to speak to them because I always see them having fun and laughng a lot. I kind of wish I could just be like that.

two of my friends got into an argument.let's call them friend A and friend B.i know what happened,and i know friend A is wrong, but wouldn't accept it and tries to pin the fault with friend B.she started harrassing her by texting and calling her everyday,kinda threatening her to tell about her private life,her secrets.now i feel disgusted,sad,and very disappointed with friend A.she calls us her bestfriend,but her treatment of my other friend is just so wrong.now i got turned off with friend A.i have stopped responding to her calls (she would bring up the same topic over and over again,and let me know that she's right).she wouldn't listen to reason because in her rationalization,she's right.but she's sooo wrong.i have lost my respect,trust and love for this friend,because if she could easily do this,she can do this to any of her friends.now i feel empty and sad,for i considered her as a sister.what should be the best thing to do?

Ok see i have this friend and he called me last week and told me he was in jail
so u kno he gave me a address and what not so i can write him
well i have a problem.. my mom is sorta actually is a nosey person and would read my mail in a min! once he reply back to me...she is gonna go off and gonna idk what she would do but somethin crazy

So I have a friend. We had lost touch, then she called me one day, saying how she wanted to hang out over the summer. So I invited her to my pool almost every week because I knew how much she wanted to go. Now we have started at the same high school. We don't have any classes together, but when I saw her in the cafeteria or walking to class, I would greet her enthusiastically. I wondered why she would look so expressionless. I tried to call her, the last time we talked, she had explained (after I had gone up to her in person) that she couldn't call me back because practice ran late. So I walked into lunch with her and she walked off to sit down somewhere without another glance at me. Whenever I see her, she is always sticking her chest out and sucking in her gut. It is disgusting. Anyway, now I feel like the all she wanted was to go to my pool so she could get a tan. And I took care of her stupid guinea pig.

Im only reposting this bcuz i only got 1 answer b4. My friend is now 2 monthes is pregnant! She is one of my closest friend, and shes very depressed. She cuts herself, she crys herself to sleep, and when shes depressed, im depressed, we're so close, we feel each others pain. I have a friend that's a girl that is alwyas touching my butt and breasts. I have told her that I don't like it and she continues to do it. Curious question - I wandered across a forum of curious teenagers who were greatly impressed with some of their teachers and wanted to pursue a friendship outside of school.

Do you believe that this teacherism or mentorship young ones recieve in high school is a sacred, unchangeable bond, that must remain static and in tact in the same manner even after graduation?

OR

Do you believe that this mentorship can be more of a dynamic and changeable relationship that can metamorphose into a wonderful friendship?

OR

Is there some sort of middle ground that can be found?

just started a new job, and this guy that works with me, works in another room, and when he passes by , he always looks in the room,(but I guess that might not really mean anything) and everytime he passes by he always come in and chit chats, and he'll ask me what I'm doing(even though there are two people in the room) and he'll sit in my desk, and look at my computer, and ask ME stuff about politics, and news..I mean it's very casual but he always asks me if I went to lunch yet, and today, me and another co -worker sit in the same room and while they were talking I started doing my own thing typing my other friend on the computer, and he stood behind me and kept hitting my chair...and I'm thinking why does he keep doing that, and then he asks me if I know of a good church, because he hasnt been to one...'s been herein the city for almost eight years ...I'm confused as to why he's playing dumb and being nosey..
