Family - July 2006

I have been with the same guy now for over a yr and half my kids love him and he loves them. He came from chicago and that is where all his family is, and we every now and then make trips up there to see them but they haven't made a trip down here at all, they didn't send him or my kids anything for christmas but yet they say they love my kids like they are there own grandkids and that they accepts us into there family but they don't really do the things that you would do. I see eye to eye with my mom on that subject and unfortunately my BF doesn't how do I make him see it at least a little? But most of all my mom doesn't want us going up there at all especially the kids, she says that I am letting them get close to people who don't even really care about them? I am torn and I don't know what to do because I feel accepted when we are up there and the kids have fun for the most part other than I am constantly having to make sure they dont get into something

I have a Six yr old daughter who love the Disney Channel and she never wants to watch anything else , also she loves being in her room all the time. Remember she's not a teenager - she does nothing wrong. So is this O.K?

Well i am a muslim born and bred in the uk so consider myself english. Anyway im having problems with my mother she is mentally and physically abusing me. She has always wanted me to go to pakistan and marry my cousin, so that he can come to England. I have always said no because i don`t want to be used for a passport. However she has been abusing me since i was 11 telling me you have to get married to him. He got married in march too someone else because i said no all the way through. My mother still wants me to marry his younger brother. This is nonstop; Every two -three weeks she has been saying too me get out of my house, the thing is i would go but as muslim we have to consider family honour. I would leave the house if she said it in front of witnesses because to tell u the truth i am fed up; i have been a fighter all the way through but i have given up now. The reason i said she is a liar is because she never tells anyone what she did too me; but in fact tells nothing but lies.

if i get mad at her i go up to my room, she soon will come up there but then i'll speak my mind to her cuz it's the only time i can. and she will till me to be qiuet, i no why "cuz she doesn't want her boyufriend to hear me crying cuz of her, and doesn want him to leave her" she will till me that she loves me but i don't know if it is true. she says that she buys me clothes, put a roof above my head, and have food. Is that love and does my mom even love me?

I have a house that I will have paid off in a year. It is 20 years old and very outdated on the inside.

If you were me would you update the tile, paint, kitchen, etc. in the home for $50,000 or would you rent out the home (or sell it) and buy a new home with a 30 year loan?

A newer house in my part of the US would cost on average about $550,000-$650,000!

What would you do and why?

Vacation would include parents (mid 30s), kids (two boys, 2 and 4) and possibly grandparents (late 50s). Home is Midwest US so we're central to everything. Prefer places that aren't super commercialized.

alright so, i believe my parents have joint custody over me so im not sure if that would make this any easier. My dad is unreasonable and always tells me to talk out my problems with him and whenever I try to he always yells at me and turns things around to make it seem like everything is my fault and he's always right no matter what. I guess what he does is called emotional abuse? im not sure... He makes me cry..ALOT and im not a very sensitive person sumtimes he makes me cry more than twice in a day, he likes to yell at me when i try to explain myself when he thinks somthing is more than it really is. I feel I can trust my mom and tell her things i'd never tell my dad even if it isn't a bad thing.I also believe that since I am a teenage girl i should have a right to live with my mom because she went through what I am going through or possibly will go through as I grow up. My main point is that i feel safer and more at ease when im around my mother and my stepdad.

My dad told me if I moved 6 hours away from my home town that he would take care of me. I'm 19 but he was missing out of my life from age 7 to 14. I accepted, got down here, he told me I had to move out soon, because his mother-in-law was coming down to stay with them, I moved out and now I can barely afford the apartment I'm living in. What do you think about your dad and what should I do about mine?

Mom wants me to come back home and they just cut my hourse at work from 50 (which means 10 overtime) to 40 (which means NO overtime)!!
