I have a Six yr old daughter who love the Disney Channel and she never wants to watch anything else , also she loves being in her room all the time. Remember she's not a teenager - she does nothing wrong. So is this O.K?

Sounds like you need to get her up and at 'em. Kids are watching too much t.v. these days, so limit the amount of time she spends watching. Encourage being active- there are lots of things she could do.

Try to spark her creativity by offering colored construction paper, markers, crayons and glue with sequins and glitter and tell her you're going to create a new bug with her or design a crown she could wear. If you do it with her, that will be most appealing to her!

Make puppets from old socks. Put on a puppet show.

Visit your library; they often have summer reading programs that are dynamic and interesting for kids.

Ask her to help make cookies. Bake a cake together and share it with an elderly neighbor. Your daughter will be so proud.

Get her a new coloring book and sit down with her to color together.

Sidewalk chalk- create a "museum."

Blow bubbles.

Water color paints.

Make your own playdough; check recipes on the internet.

Hope this helps to get her busy and away from the tube!

Tell her that it's alright to watch Disney Channel and be in her room but she should also do other things during the day besides watch TV. Encourage her to go outside and play and call her friend's parents to set up play dates, and also to spend time with her family doing other activities. If there's a summer camp near you that is still accepting people and have kids your daughter's age in it enroll her in one so that you know she won't be watching TV and being in her room all day.

Take the TV out of her room. She is 6. I limit the television my kids watch. They can watch 1 1/2 hours in the am and pm. Then they are outside playing. You are the parent, you have to do this. You can endure an hour of tv in the living room with her.

OMG! Get the T.V. out of her room. There is nothing wrong with her playing in her room, but the T.V. has to go off!!!! Television is causing more problems with kids than we know. Kids have problems with attention spans, lack of creativity, need for instant gratification and it is all due to the idiot box. I would strongly advise you to get it out of her room and limit it to an hour or so a day. If you don't believe me on the subject of T.V., go to www.Rosemond.com and see what a world-reknowned parenting expert has to say about it.

PS I also think she should be outside getting some fresh air and sunshine and exercise for part of the day.

I don't really think it's a big problem. I'm sure that while she's in her room she's just not watching TV, she's prolly playing with her toys too. My daughter is 8 and she does the same thing only it's Nickolodeon that she watches all the time.

nope she should be active. now is the time she should be developing her skills. not just the mental skills of mastering reading and writing. but physical skills like tossing a ball (that teaches things like fair play and coodination) or dance or even bike riding. she also needs to have activities with other children outside of school to teach social skills. say host a tea party or a sleepover to learn how to make friends and not be shy with children her own age.

If she is staying in her room all day watching T.V, then there is a problem. She needs to exersise more.
