Just to point this out, I never have nor probably will use a prostitute. It's just this:
Marriage in the U.S. is supposedly about free will. Nevertheless, women care a lot about how much money their husband makes and they'll divorce him if he loses his job. (kind of illogical since it removes a potential stream of income).
If you do the math, you might need $50,000/year to keep Susie B. from divorcing you. A prostitute costs, for the sake of argument, $50 per session. (not sure of the rate).
If you used the prostitute every day of the year, that would only be 18,250, and most guys aren't in the mood everyday. Plus, no divorce settlement, no custody issues, no hassle, etc.
It almost makes sense that countries in which there is a dowry and an arranged marriage are more honest, because they bring the money issue to the forefront and settle it once and for all. Perhaps as mature cultures, they've captured human nature more succinctly.
