How does an engagement work? I'd really like to know.

Do you need an official paper (like a wedding certificate) in order to be engaged --- or it is that as soon as the guy proposes, the two people can start telling others that they're engaged?

And when do you trade the engagement ring for the wedding band?
One of my co-workers is engaged, and she's wearing a ring that's different from the one she was wearing at first (she ain't married yet)?
Do guys wear a ring, too?

I may look ignorant, but hey, what can I do, I was like 5 years old the last time I attended a wedding, + my parents are not even married.

I don't want to deal w/this person anymore, but I'm having a hard time making them understand that it's wrong what he's doing to his girlfriend, were not meant to be a couple, and I'm not about to be any man's ''other'' woman.

I've even considered contacting this guys live in girlfriend ( oh yes, I've obtained his girlfriends cell, work number, e-mail address, and I also have there home number) and asking her to ask her boyfriend if he'll leave me alone!!! Help!! He's so clingy!! He pops up at my home unannounced, rides past my house seeing what ever he can see if he can't reach me by phone, or e-mail, I mean he's really on some crazy, stalker like ''ish''!!

hi. my online friend told me that she hasn't heard from a friend in iraq in the past 2 days when they had been talking to each other each day, so she's really worried and scared about him not talking to her (she told me he has a cell phone so i guess they've been able to talk each day), so is there any advice that i can give my friend to help her deal with this? My soon to be 13 year old niece is living with my parents as her mother isn't quite fit (considering she is on parole now, has left her in my parents care for about 2/3 of her life anyway, is pregnant with her lover's child and when she did have her daughter with her, her husband abused her).

Now, should something happen to my parents (very possible as they are in poor health), could I fight to get custody of my niece?

Here are her possible guardians:

Her dad who has not had a job last more than 2 weeks at a time. He is 35 and just recently moved out of his parent's house to go start a band in Nevada. He has a history of drug use.

Her paternal grandparents which take her on the weekends for visits. All their kids and grandkids (except my niece and now her father) live with them and all have a history of drug use.

Me, her 19 year old college aunt. No drug/alcohol use. Has own apartment.

Her uncle: drug use history and shares house with two families.

hey my best friend's brother is also my best friend and we've grown pretty close over the 2 years we've known eachother. he and i were friends before my best friend and i were friends and my best friend knows i like him and shes ok with it. but she thinks he is too young to be with me (i'm 14 and he's 10) but he's really mature.
