We all agree oil can be made but it cost is too high but good engineering could reduce these problems and a huge new supply of non poluting energy can come on line.

Why is it in the last 25 years there has been no significant change in the temperature of the earth? Via satellite and weather balloons measurements made globally - the earth has remain constant and the protective layer of the earth unhampered.

Yes, we have had some surface changes, but that is not unusual - if you study history of the earth - not only does the earth have seasons - Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter - it also has large cycles of surface freezing and warming - Does anyone remember the painting of George Washington Crossing the Delaware?? It was frozen over - now ask anyone alive today or even in the early late 1800's and early 1900's if they remember seeing the Delaware frozen over. -- that was part of the earths little Ice Age.

Making the earths natural cycles to fit ones political agenda is ridicules. Taking care of the planet is cool but the doom and gloom crap is for the idiots and fools - what do you think?

I read some where that gasses and other stuff released when we cut down the rainforest causes a greenhouse affect. Is this a possible big contributer to global warming? If so how come you never here about the rainforest any more on the news? Wouldn't they make a bigger deal about it instead of all the little things?

Yaddi, Yadda, Yaddi - beside the Great Freeze that we were warned about and how we should give money to these groups to stop the freeze.** Remember this one - groups were screaming how we were destroying the coral eco-system and that we had to fix it. So, again give us money and we will fix it. Of course in reality lets make up stuff and scream bloody murder just to fulfill are higher than mighty ECO-SELFS and pretend to care about the ECO-SYSTEM - should be what it is called. Why not take parking lots or other parking areas, and simply cover them with solar panels, then have "outlets" that beam any power to a car with a built in receiver that parks in that lot?

Any extra power left over can be piped into a city grid during the day when loads are at their peak, or if the power generated by the panels were insufficient, you could draw on the grid.

This would work with either full-electric or hybrid cars, and offer a unique way of charging without plugs or effort on the part of the driver. You park your car, turn it off and a sensing system does the rest.

I am sure most environmentalists believe they are doing a good thing with their cause. But it has been shown time and time again that oftentimes they end up doing more harm than good. What can we do to prevent future misshaps?

I am only 13, so i may have a broad outlook on these types of things. But i know that the gov't i spending billions and billions of dollars on new prototypes to go explore mars. PROTOTYPES!?!?! Some people say this is to explore new places to live in case we ever "use up the world", sort to speak. Dont you think this money could have been used for better things? Like for one how about we try to make more hybrid cars? Or newer ways to travel without using as much harmful fossil fuels. This in turn would slow down global warming and lessen the need to search for alternative living. But this is just a 13 year olds outlook on things. What do you think?

Urban Sprawl in the U.S. is continue at a frightening rate. Back in 1978, the U. S. reached a sustainable population growth rate. This meant that all U.S. births annually, were equivalent to the number of annual deaths. This would allow for the country to maintain the current population level with no increase. Since then we have allowed people from over crowded and under educated countries to come here Illegally. This has spread unabated like a wind whipped fire gobbling up every thing in it's path to include gobbling up our forests and farmland with Global Warming Urban Sprawl.

1. The logic that global warming isn't real because they can’t see it (i.e. the temperatures are colder on a specific day or we had record snow falls in this area, etc).

I can't figure out how they come up with saving energy by prolonging it. Now, in my mind, prolonging it consumes more energy (A/C running longer, etc). Also, why are we going through the rigamorow of changing times, why not just tack on 1/2 an hour and leave it that way? By the time I finally adjust to the time change, it's almost time to change back, then I've got to get used to that one too!

Just trying to guage opinion so short answers are fine.

To what extent do you agree with the following...

1) Anthropogenic (human) Global Warming (AGW) is real.

2) AGW is a myth created as an excuse to raise taxes.

3) Scientists do not understand the mechanisms which cause climate change.

4) The planet may be warming but this is not unusual and there have been periods of similar warming in the past.

5) Most scientists can't even agree if climate change is occuring

6) If there was an increase in the amount of greenhouse gases from natural sources (oceans, soil, cattle, decomposition etc) this would lead to, or contribute to, global warming.

7) If global warming was happening, there is nothing we can do to stop it.

8) Climate change is the biggest threat currently facing humanity.

9) Proponents of climate change need to learn the facts.

10) Skeptics of climate change need to learn the facts.
