Anders and James O seem to be ignorant of history. They both think that the US did not sign the Kyoto Protocol, and James O goes as far as blaming George Bush for that. However, the truth is that the US signed the Kyoto Protocol in 1998 - when Bill Clinton was president. (See attached link.)
Try to learn some facts before you go off spouting ignorant tripe!

Who is they???
It is up to the people like you and me .
IT is the public doing a LOT of the harm and they are the only ones who want to change ,
Governments have different Agendas and they are about Power ,Control and money ,the well being of the Public is not included ,if anything Governments want less people ,which means NOT SAVING THEM
Global warming is not half as destructive right now ,as what the USA is planning.
They are insane
They have a really hot plan to replace all the indigenous Forrest's in the world ,with mono cultures for the production of Ethanol,
Non sustainable, chemically grown ,heavily irrigated (with water needed for communities)one specie Forrest's,that have only plagues of insects as fauna which are combated with pesticides.
Killing all bio diversity,in both flora and fauna ,adding to the destruction and extinction of species ,like nothing we have ever seen before.
All in the quest for alternative energy and to save the Environment ,
So dont look for help from above
look around you

They are trying to reach agreements for reducing the green house gas emissions. A current example is the G8 meeting in Germany. United states has declared that they prefer to work with the largest emitters of green house gases -China, India, etc. - rather then ratifying the Kyoto protocol. Currently, the Kyoto protocol, which every industrialized county in the world has signed -except U.S. and Australia- , is the international protocol that addresses reducing emissions. IPCC, and NASA, are working on scientific explanations of what global warming is and to provide material to those interested in stopping it.

most are good answers here - it is important that "they" are working toward making the planet healthy (I know I don't want to breath in pollutants & get lung cancer) but it is equally important that YOU reduce the amount of things you use, reuse things whenever you can, and not only recycle things but buy things that are made out of recycled items.
Anything you want to buy - do a google search on it with eco or organic or green in front of it and 99% of the things will have a planet & human friendly alternative. May cost a little more, but that is the price for good health and a peaceful place to live.

The world has signed a keyoto agreement limiting emissions a couple years ago, but G. W. Bush didn'nt sign it for the U.S. it would keep too many rich people from getting richer.

who are "they" and what about you?
what about myself... hrm.. I'm recycling a LOT more, using less water (turning off the sink when I brush my teeth, taking 5-15 minute showers). When I have my own place where I don't have to worry about waking roomates i'm going to commit to washing my hair in the sink 1x a week rather than taking a full shower on that day. I don't drive, I take the bus or walk wherever I am going or I carpool with other people.
I think it is less about them, and more about us, because we are them but if we only talk about them, then we don't do it ourselves and that means that they aren't doing it themselves ^_~

"They". Do you mean the Men in Black? I'm sure "They" have better things to worry about. Like the Krigelian battle cruiser about to attack the planet and vaporize it!
Seriously, it doesn't matter what anyone does or doesn't do. The planet will correct itself.

It all starts with you! Have you given up your iPod, cellphone, TV, computer which all use electricity? Did you buy a hybrid car??
Most people will not give up what they think they need.
