The CO2 emissions surrounding this hyped event ,was probably what 10,000 people would have contributed to in a WHOLE YEAR. Right from the jetset travel, escort fighters ,and right upto the protective barricades set up for the leaders ,the CO2 emissions have been humungous.

Did the world leaders ever realise this ? Or is it that they believe, that all the hotair spewed at the summit would neutralise the emissions?

Al Gore - Sir ,where were you when the carbon DIE oxides were emitted ?

The U.S. gets 50% of its electricity from coal.

India gets 70% of its electricity from coal.

China gets 80% of its electricity from coal.

Conversely, France gets 80% of its electricity from nuclear.

We could show China the way by shutting down our polluting coal-fired plants as soon as we have built the next generation nuclear plants to take their place.
We need to set a good example for India and China.

China is activating at least one new coal-fired plant every week!
They want to build 55 coal-fired plants per year for at least 5 years in a row.

We should also be building high-speed maglev rail networks all over the country in order to provide a viable alternative to air and highway travel.
With the latest in pre-stressed concrete structural components, we can build an elevated maglev rail system that will avoid the dangers and traffic disruptions associated with rail crossings of surface streets.

Texas and Wyoming are the worst offenders in coal emissions!

Is it hypocritical? Or should they be given more leeway because they are a politician or a movie star. Is there a double standard?

I was just wondering which carbon offset foundation is the most efficient. By that I mean, which foundation puts the most amount of money towards the cause. I know Terrapass is good, but they are a profit organization, any suggestions.

With all the doomsday stories being told now..How come...
The is so much division over whether global warming is: ! occuring at all 2) Due to our emissions.

Why do we not have any hard science that says one way or another that "this is happening" and "this is why". It seems to have become a typical republican vs democrat thing which really disgusts me. Can't we set our politics aside for the good of the planet we all share for once???

I live in Georgia and it gets really hot down here. Right now I'm sitting in my room with the door closed, windows open and a fan going on high and it's sweltering! I'm drinking this huge glass of ice water too.

I can't open the door cuz I stay up til late with the lights on and my fan is really noisy and everyone else is asleep.

Also I have this paranoia about people watching me in my sleep so I couldn't open the door when I go to bed anyway.

Does anyone know how I can keep cool?.....without getting naked! (I'm waaay ahead of you pervs out there)

Aren't they looking into alternate forms of energy, I mean, income? Sure, I know, they want to milk as much revenue as possible from oil because they have the infrastructure in place for petro-dollars.

Wouldn't they look forward to the development of solarvoltaic or wind or, my favorite, Geo-Thermal?

Think about it-- these big stupid lawns in front of suburban homes and golf courses are taking up huge amounts of water and they also add to the problem of red tide with all the fertilizer use, not to mention the pesticides and weed killers dumped on the lawn that drains to our water table. Why not go to a natural landscape with native plants that are used to the climate of a given region? Then we don't need to waste resources on something as silly as a generic green weedfree grass lawn. WHAT IS SO FABULOUS ABOUT A STUPID GREEN LAWN?

This just in(and we are not making this up.)Sounds like big doses of vitiman D actully reduses our chances of contracting cancer.I'm sure some of you remember when staying out of the sun was advised to NOT get cancer. Now think back(look up,study history, whatever)to the COMEING ICE AGE.It seems that well meaning scientists can change their mind.So before I go out and buy a hybrid or change to mercury filled lightbulbs,I think I'm just going to relax a little and see how this latest farce pans out.

If it was done on a large enough scale? Wouldn't it take up far less ground area then we use today allowing the land to be renaturalized as well? Wouldn't this employ a lot of people who would otherwise be doing things like slash and burn deforestation in the rainforest for farming and provide enough food and profit for prosperiety a middle class and sustainible development as well? Would this make sense to do to make cities more sustainible by having them produce there own food near themselves? Wouldn't this help civilization to reverse it's sprawling out in all directions to feed and supply itself trend that it's been on since it's begginning thats been destroying the wild environment the whole time?

Think that Global Warming is fake? It's a real problem. Here's my opinion.

Most of the people on here are in the middle to the end of their lives, you guys got to live how you wanted, and it destroyed Earth. My birthday is Tuesday and I'll just be turning 16. In the movie Inconvinent Truth (I don't care if you are a fan of Gore or not) He stated we only have 10 years to reverse our effects, or basically we're screwed. Doesn't that scare you? It terrifies me. 26 years old and living in a world where birth defects thanks to the enviroment are out of control and the weather conditions are going crazy and animals are dying. That doesn't sound fun to me. Even if global warming was fake that doesn't scare you into fixing the problem!? People are scared of UFOs and Bigfoot and you see people looking for them trying to show them we're good people and that we don't want to hurt them so they don't hurt us, and we know thats fake but we still do it. So why do you think Global warming is fake?
