... and see what we are doing to our planet? has anyone else realised that the trees are starting to bloom when we are only in early march and this is one of the warmest winters we have ever had! When will people realise that something isn't quite right and something has to be done?!

Ok, we have all seen the "homeless" collecting money at offramp intersections. And I'm sure some have given them a dollar. But what would you do if someone was holding a sign that said--"will take your empty pop can or water bottle? Help me keep ----- looking nice."

Just curious because believe it or not I have considered doing just that.

With all the global warming talk nowadays you constantly here reference to "peer reviewed” work, as if this is a guarantee that what a scientist says is scientific truth--assuming scientific truths are the actual laws according to nature and not some man made assumptions.

The thing we all need to remember is that scientists are human and humans make mistakes. Some "real" scientists go beyond making mistakes and actually fabricate science --case in point, Dr. Hwang in South Korea. His work even passed "peer" review for a number of years.

I have a scientist friend that has done research on group psychology. He said that his research suggests that the magnitude of mistakes increases in groups: not more mistakes but the errors are greater. I can't help but wonder what implications this has for the scientific community. If people like Dr. Hwang were able to fool the scientific community for so long. Who else is fooling the scientific community?

This seems to be a big concern at the moment because of global warming, would it be possible for us to start projects now to divert sea water onto land, there are many millions of uninhabited land on the coast off Africa where big holes [natural and manmade] could be used to divert sea water, also dry riverbeds unused mines, even pumping sea water to places, could not the brains of the world come up with a solution.

We have a freelander 1998cc DI, being a diesel injection (without a turbo) it does better mpg than most cars on the road (averaged 45-50mpg). We have had it 7 years and it will easily go on for many years more, when some other cars have long died and gone to the scrap heap. Why is my 4x4 car evil and a sporty petrol car that does 20mpg isn't?

Before anybody suggests, I know a bike or public transport is the greener option and I do walk where I can. Buses do not serve my village very well and I cannot take my kids 5 miles to school on my bike and they're not allowed on the bus provided by the school until they are 7 as it's unsupervised. I didn't design this country so you need a car, but it is a fact of life (unfortunately).

The question is one about my car versus other cars
