To protect the coastal areas plants which can grow well in marshy areas should be grown.(mangrove plants) These can reduce erosion of soil.
One of the effects of global warming predicted is rise in the level of sea water. Whether we are powerful enough to overcome major natural disasters only time can tell. But lives can be saved by proper and timely warning. To protect property & buildings it is best to leave the areas closer to the shores vacant & unoccupied.

Join in world efforts to reduce global warming.

Accept that some very low areas will be flooded and work to cope with that, relocating people, structures, and farms.
