Some places, where effective cleanup has occured..

When this happens there are extensive scientific analyses to show that the risk is very small. By law, the facts are disclosed to people before they buy.

It all depends on how well the old dumps are cleaned up. Many remain fenced off. Others are pretty clean.

Big article in either Cleveland Scene Magazine or the Cleveland Free Times last month about people living near a dump in Valley View, OH (suburb of Cleveland). A huge shopping center is being built on the site right now. The Wal-mart actually closed for a week for "undisclosed reasons" right after it opened for business. I included the 2 websites for the papers. Can't remember the title of the article but I know it was one of these 2

I've heard the terrible 'love canal' up near Buffalo, NY is or has been in the developing stages. I think it's crazy. My grandfather worked in a uranium enriching plant and I know what happened to him. You couldn't pay me to live in these places.

Has anyone ever thought what life would be like in the US if Cherynobyl happened here???? It's come close a few times.
