very complicated.
amino acids and other organic compounds were formed in the prehistoric conditions of the earth (hot, acidic, and little oxygen). those amino acids and organic compounds combined to form verrrry simple life forms that ate other amino acids. amino acids are proteins by the way. these simple life forms began evolving into creatures that produced oxygen (i.e. plants) and that put more oxygen in the atmosphere. once that happened, more complex forms of life were able to develop.
that or you can believe the crack-pot theory of intelligent design
