I want to know the meaning of extinction in the context of cattle breeds. Is it the complete wipe out of a breed (population) or the reduction in numbers that are not viable for sustainable regeneration/reproduction?

Say all Jersey Cows are extinct meaning that particular breed no longer exists. But say Holsteins are still around.
