An ocean liner is sailing across the Atlantic Ocean. Late one night during the journey, she strikes an iceberg. The leak created is taking in water at a rate of 3.25 tons every 12 minutes. The ship is 40 miles from the nearest land. The captain knows that the ship will sink if it takes in 68 tons of water. The pumps of the ship can throw out 12 tons of water every hour. Unfortunately, with this damage the ship can only travel at a rate of 2.25 miles per hour. The captain radios search and rescue personnel that the ship will not likely make it to shore before it sinks. If the captain is correct, how far from shore will the ship sink?

The world energy demand is ever increasing although the main source of energy supply is getting scarce, i.e. oil and gas.. Discuss why these types of alternative energy are still unacceptable. Is the problem with renewable energy purely technical? Or does it have problems related to politics and globalization

could you seperate the dioxide from the hydrogen in water ( i am not a scientist so simple answers please)

if you can why do they not invent something for deep sea divers and people on submarines to use that converts the sea water so they have unlimited amounts of oxygen without re survacing

i thought about this in the middle of the night and i havent stopped thinking about it since

the reason i asked what hydrogen is used for is because it was seperated from the water then i take it it would be a wasted by product wouldnt it

thank you for your answers

Do you believe that the cause of global warming is by the fault of humans or is it just the earth returning to it's natural temperature after the ice age?

I am researching and trying to start a recycling program in my office. I see you should separate paper in two bins (white office paper and mixed low grade paper). If you have color letterhead on office paper does it still go in white bin? One site said if the paper is not blank it has to go in mixed bin? This does not seem right?

Hello. I discovered that Brazil and India are the largest producers of patents in technologies that help to preserve nature. I don't know if Brazil is well known in India but I would like to open a debate about the possibilities envolving the to countries. There are more things in common between the two countries: powerful economy, big population and problems with poverty. I believe that soon the Brazilian government will try an approach with India.
