When they are broken down in elements, what exactly is stored on the disk? How is this translated into music or film?

What is stored on the disk is a digital code (numbers) that are used to represent individual pixels (in pictures) and tones (in music) when the code is matched to a table of values (a codex) When these pixel values are reassembled side by side, with matching line lengths, the human eye and brain interprets them as a picture. When multiple pictures are presented one after the other, the eye/brain interprets them as recording motion and blends the images. With sound, the codes might be a specific vibration - pulsing a speaker - or a code for playing a musical instrument - midi - where the ear/brain assembles the sound.
