Most of Canada is TAIGA a.k.a. boreal forest a.k.a coniferous forest. It is dominated by coniferous (needle leaves) evergreen trees. The soil is acidic and poor in nutrients. Precipitation is lower than in temperate forests, but not completely dry. The growing season is short. Plants have various adaptations for conserving water and nutrients.
