Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Brazil derive most,if not all, their fuel needs from ethanol or methanol??If so,what is our problem in the US,with our vast agriculture output,it would seem we could basically grow our own fuel. What is our reluctance???

If all cars in the US were electric or plug in hybrids and charged at night time. Would the U.S have to build anymore power plants to accomodate these vehicles? If more power plants were needed and coal power plants were built. Would the pollution from the coal power plants be the same or more or less then the pollution created by gas power vehicles that are used today?

I saw a program about Chernobyl and it said that the actual effect of the radiation was grossly exaggerated. Is this true? I thought it was supposed to cause cancer but apparently it was proved that small doses decrease the amount of deaths from cancer in small mammals.

I did wonder whether this was kind of influenced by the UK government who think we should have more nuclear power stations.

The local woodland in my area (Wepre woods) may be having a skatepark built in it. Now it is a site of special scientific interest as it has a colony of Great Crested Newts plus countless other animals etc. The local kids tend to light fires and cause destruction as kids do, but with a skatepark there well i can only guess at the damage to the ecosystem. Now i'm not saying that all the local kids are destructive but it can only escalate matters. This woodland needs to be managed not turned into a skateboard park. There are plenty of other sites in the local area that would not encroach on the local wildlife. As i am trying to fight this i would like other peoples opinion on this matter so i can get an over all view of other peoples thoughts.
THANKS.

Our country has been through so much in the last thrity years, why don't we put Americans to work and create our own automotive fuels? We could put our Farmers to work truly working to farm corn, send the corn to the desert, and use stills there to make corn alcohol. The heating units could also be corn stoves. The desert would allow us to save heating a great deal during the hot periods. We would need the farmers, general laborers, truckers, and use American products. We could reconstruct the automotive engines using a twenty to one compression ratio with the old-style carburetors increasing the oxygen coming in there and resetting the spark gaps accordingly. It seems to be our best answer in the USA. Why are we NOT exploring such??
