NOT a pop song. a soft-modern jazz type song. again, a sultry female lead singer (solo). great song. only heard it once. HELP ME somebody with the name of the singer and song title. Please.

Towards the end of the 1960's jazz record sales were way down and clubs were closing all over the country.

Rock was taking over, do you think that the musicians created fusion to have an audience, so that they could continue playing music? It seems that they could not contunue playing jazz and still make a living.

Jazz and swing used to be cool, ok? It was jivin', hep and happenin'. It was HOT! But somehow over the years the image of jazz has been completely ruined and the media turned it into this nerdy snobby kind of thing. Nowadays when people hear "jazz" they think Kenny G and that lame weather channel crap, not the cool awesome 30's/40's stuff.

The other day I thought of an excellent name for my prospective future band. As of yet, however, there is only myself and my percussionist. We have yet to form the ensamble we would like, so we really are not a band. But my name is perfect for us, and I want to make sure we claim rights to it. Is there any sort of registery or whatnot whereby I can claim my name for the band?

I just started jazz band this in highschool. I play the tenor sax, but I'm originally a flute player. My band director says we should download jazz songs to our ipods but I have no idea what to get! Any song ideas and preferably free, but legal, downloading sights that are ipod compatible.
also, how would you put that song on your ipod? I only know how to do it from the itunes store!
thanks sooooooooooooooooooo much!

I have been shoping on ebay, and I have seen several brands, but the more I see, the more I think I need a little help. I am sure the Rendavaual would have been a steal at $75 or so, but that surly would not have been a horn for a 13 year old boy. I am seeing Olds, Conn, King Clevland, and Bach as the better instruments in my oppinion, but wonder which would be best? Also, it seems that the better horns all have peral valve caps?

I'm rediscovering some of my ECM recordings and have found many to be reclassified as New Age (iTunes, etc....) when the original recording was classified as Jazz.

Do you think New Age music has its origins in Inspirational Jazz? In a more accessible / mainstream form?

The ultimate being John Coltrane's, A Love Supreme, some from his First Meditations, Ornette Coleman's songbook.

What do you think? Comments?
