I agree, he was originally a Jakob Gershowitz. Love his "classical stuff". If you ever get a chance, check out Michael Tilson Thomas conducting a modern orchestra to the orginal piano rolls played by gershwin himself. Or check out Fantasia 2000 DVD version of Rhapsody in Blue or for a laugh, check out "Bess, you is my woman now" by Garrett Morris as "Porky and Bess"
