Now, I have been classical trained for a reasonable amount of time (Four? years total), but have stopped lessons for about 2-3 years. Now, I want to learn improv jazz. What I want to know is this: Is it easy, even for somone at my level to learn how to do? How is it done? (basics) Are there any free sites I can use to learn by or use as reference or help? How long does it usually take for an adverage someone to learn it to an adverage level?

Well, there's this song I want to use for an audition...
And all I can remember is the clip,
"Baby, Come to Me...
Cause I need you...
And I love you...
melodic pause)
Baby, Come to Me."
I thought it was Aretha Frankiln, but it's too new.
So, Anita Baker?
Couldn't find it by either singer.
Got any ideas?
Thanks!

Years ago when I was in jazz band in high school, we did an old instrumental song called The Stripper. It sounds like a song played in an old burlesque show. I'm getting married next month and we want to use it for the garter song. I'm trying to find out or wrote or performed and info on how to get it. Please, serious answers only. Thanks

"because I love you more than life, and it will always be this way, ... ... and I love you more than life..." It is NOT Pia Zadora, or Bob Dylan or Hillsong! It is a smooth jazz tune, has a Latin jazz rhythm, and the (male) singer has a smooth voice like Michael Buble or Sting or Seal. I can't ever catch it on the radio. Both pop (light rock) & smooth jazz stations are playing it this last month or so.

Swing music, also known as swing jazz, is a form of jazz music that developed during the 1920s and had solidified as a distinctive style by 1935 in the United States. Swing is distinguished primarily by a strong rhythm section, usually including double bass and drums, medium to fast tempo, and the distinctive swing time rhythm that is common to many forms of jazz.

Are there any groups, on yahoo or off, that are a community of jazz listeners who help each other by sharing their knowledge of certain recordings of jazz?

A group where an experienced listener can recommend certain recordings when asked.

Thanks.
