that goes like this

"do do *pause* do do do do do do do *pause* do do do do do do do do.

i know that sounds dumb but if you sing it outloud it may help. I would be soo appreciative, its a famous song that is just do dos by some sort of a wind instrument. It's probably a clarinet or tenor sax. Thank you!

My father-in-law is a big jazz fan, especially those recordings featuring the Hammond B3. I'd like to give him a CD as a present and would be open to suggestions meeting the above criteria. I would prefer an older recording, but would consider someone new with a classic sound. Thanks for all of your help.

Hello, I am currently thinking of learning trumpet or trombone.
At this stage, I just want to know what instrument makes the brass sound?

say, if there are no trumpet but only trombones in a jazz band, would it still sound like brass?
and if there is no trombones but only trumpets in a jazz band, would it sound like brass?
what is the main instrument that produces the brass sound.

This instrumental plays at the start of a radio show in Ireland, but I'm sure I've heard it elsewhere, 'cause it's really catchy and probably very well known to people who aren't musical dunces like me... anyway, it has about four different parts to it, sort of (I'm describing this terribly, BTW), and loads of sax, or trumpet, or something. Again, I apologise if anyone is offended by my ignorance.

Anyone care to hazard a guess? Please?

When I go to most cd stores most of my music is in "easy listenin" including jazz. What is meant by easy listening? Do people feel that this music is very easy to play? Even these jazz bands that backed singers I find nothing easy in their playing. Or is it just me, getting too old?

I am really interested in Jazz/Blues artist from the 1920-30's era. I do not know the type of jazz that it is, I call it speakeasy. The music/lyrics are usually pretty sultry... Any suggestions on who I can listen to that would fit this discription?

Or does it just smell funny, like Zappa said?

I want to know why it scares a lot of people... I get scared by repetitive tunes. I don't get specific tunes stuck in my head, just noises... Jazz helps to keep my brain on its toes. Who loves jazz fusion? =oD

When you are listening to jazz radio, which musicians are the most obvious to recognize?

Smooth jazz fans -
I was listening to davekoz.com at my last job as there are no jazz stations at all in my listening area over the airwaves.
My new job doesn't allow internet access but does allow a cd player. I'm going to burn a couple CDs from stuff I own, but wonder if anyone knows of some good compilation CDs.
I'm still learning about smooth jazz, but I like most everything so far, preferring flowing to staccato styles. They feed my soul.
In fact, the only total dislike so far is anything with Anita Baker. For whatever reason, her voice grates on me intensely, which is odd for my usually temperate musical spirit.
So, help a lady out in her quest to feed my soul with smooth jazz. Thanks for your time in advance.

Don't know much about jazz but I know what I like.
Charles Mingus
John Coltrane
Soweto Kinch
Wayne Shorter
Herbie Hancock
Miles Davis

That's the kind of jazz I like, can anyone recommend me some similar stuff? Preferably the less obvious stuff as I might already have some of that.

Do you know people who, when you mention to them that you love jazz, say "I like jazz too. I love Kenny G!"? This makes me cringe and realize that any chance of a meaningful discussion with them about jazz music is gone.

Why are people so ignorant about America's only original genre of music?

Ok, I am aware that Muse is not Jazz music. However, I believe that the song here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uPGpYDqhjk
does or could qualify as some form of Jazz. I would appreciate very much if, whoever answers this question, could list some songs, artists, or bands, that have a sound similar to that song. Thank you very much and it's greatly appreciated.
