Man do I love the Hammond B3. A guy in our college dorm had one and took up his entire room along with 1 Leslie. He would play, practice for hours and I was hooked.
The previous recommendations are all great, however, don't over look some modern acts.
If you are burning a CD, have a listen to Medeski, Martin, Wood. Medeski does Hammond B3 along with other analog keyboard instruments where he gets amazing sounds.
Start with End of the World Party.......
Good luck.

Larry Young's "Into Somethin" is quite an organ ripping album. Certainly any Jimmy Smith is a good call. For a New Orleans sound, try Joe Krown or Robert Walter. And for a very contemporary/funky approach to organ, check out the Benevento/Russo Duo.

Well, there's all kinds of great organ jazz from the 60s and 70s. Start with Jimmy Smith's 'Damn!' or 'Back at the Chicken Shack', Charles Earland's 'Black Talk', Jimmy McGriff's 'Greatest Hits', Richard 'Groove' Holmes' 'Blue Groove', Larry Young's 'Unity' just to name a few.

One guy that comes to mind is Oscar Peterson. Oscar mainly played piano but this should do the trick. You can also try Lucky Peterson (modern day). No relation. Lucky plays Hammond B3 as well as guitar.
