When I go to most cd stores most of my music is in "easy listenin" including jazz. What is meant by easy listening? Do people feel that this music is very easy to play? Even these jazz bands that backed singers I find nothing easy in their playing. Or is it just me, getting too old?

Jazz doesn't sell many new CDs so music stores become lazy and group them with something else. Be glad they aren't grouped with folk music.

It doesn't mean it's easy music to make, just easy to listen to. Easy on the ears. Like "soft rock".

It's one of the styles I like, although lately I've surprised my teenage kids by listening to Nickelback.

Easy listening is just an umbrella term for anything that is smooth and for adults.
