Swing music, also known as swing jazz, is a form of jazz music that developed during the 1920s and had solidified as a distinctive style by 1935 in the United States. Swing is distinguished primarily by a strong rhythm section, usually including double bass and drums, medium to fast tempo, and the distinctive swing time rhythm that is common to many forms of jazz.

By swing do you mean the Count Basie kind of swing or the modern swing of people like Brian Setzer? I like both actually, but I prefer the more modern styles. As a matter of fact I just ripped a Royal Crown Revue CD onto my computer yesterday.
My favorite big band swing bands are Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and Cab Calloway. Dizzy Gillespie and Benny Goodmans big bands were also good.

Yes, I love swing music. The "big band" era was great and the best music from that era is still played today!

Modern groups, such as Brian Setzer (?spelling?), the Beat Daddy's and others are smaller groups using faster tempos (usually). The music is still good. Even Barry Manillow's "Bandstand Boogie" is a new classic. Manillow came out of a jazz background. "Cruella DeVIlle" from the newer live-action (as opposed to the older animated version) of Disney's 101 DALMATIANS is a great swing song!

Swing is a style of music wherein the rhythm is based upon "swung" triplets, somewhere between "straight" eighth notes or "straight" eighth-note triplets. The rhythm, if written out is usually a "dotted eighth and a sixteenth note" per beat, rather than two eights, or three eighth-note triplets.

I used to be in jazz band and I loved playing swing music. Anything along the likes of Ellington, Parker, Count Basie, Buddy Rich, Gillepsie, etc. As a drummer, that type of music is very entertaining to play and I love the sound. Hard to find any decent original recordings since they're so old, though

Not only do I like the Big Band swing music era, but I love the atmosphere that went with it. The venue was a good place where you could talk, dance, dine and have a ball. And the music, simply divine, one can't listen to it without getting the urge to jump up, grab your partner and dance the night away.

You see?
The kids, they listen to the rap
which gives them the brain damage
You see?
With their Hippin' and their hoppin'
And their Bippin' and their Boppin'
So they don't know what the jazz is all about!
You see?
