You always hear about how teachers get paid so little, and I am in school to be an elementary school teacher. The money doesn't matter to me really, I love kids and the look in their eyes when something *clicks* gives me such an amazing feeling, but I dont want to be just barely scraping by either. Is the money as bad as people say? Can teachers be comfortable finance wise?

I want to be a primary teacher, and was wondering how easily you can get a job after your degree (primary education hons degree). So many people want to become teachers these days, and I was wondering how easily you can get a job after you have graduated at university, because of the high competition.

The advisers at my school suck, so I’m turning to Yahoo. I am working on my bachelors degree in early childhood education. I recently discovered that, for the same number of credits (with 4 of the classes being different) that I could get the above degree, with an added concentration in special education. My question is, if I take this path with the added concentration, am I going to be limited exclusively to special education or can I still be a general education teacher and consider the concentration an extra certification? I’m not sure if special education is the direction that I ultimately want to take so I don’t want to limit myself to that at this point. What are my career options with these two paths? Also, I know rules vary by state, I’m in GA.

I don't believe that passing a state exam(s) can make a teacher anymore than going to McDonalds can make anyone a hamburger. However, state exams get more complicated and more expensive as the years go by.

Now, what is your view of people who want to teach full-time but cannot pass certification exams even if their life depends on earning a state license? I personally know people who have a Master's Degree in different fields of study but are not certified because they cannot pass the NY State Teacher Certification Exams.

I personally do not want a teacher in the classroom teaching my son how to read and do basic math if he or she is struggling to pass state exams, which are not easy but at the same time, not impossible to pass.

What is your view of people who want to teach full-time, call themselves teachers but cannot pass state exams?

Your view?

I have a first grade class of 17 who are overall VERY loud, and in addition, I'm in a shared classroom and my side of the room has a high going to low ceilng, causing a very bad echo. So, in addition to the fact that this group of children is very loud, the acoustics of the room make them seem even louder. I've tried "one, two, three, eyes on me" but that only gets about half the class to look at me and the rest keep talking. I bought a bell, and that does get their attnetion, but they barely listen to me, and before I'm even finished explaining what I need them to do, it gets LOUD in the class again. I use a smiley face to sad face behavioral system where they start on a happy face and they have 4 moves down over the course of the day. If they get to the sad sad face, they have to call home and tell mom or dad what they've been doing. Every day I have at least one kid on the sad face, and on Friday, I had FOUR. I have probably 6 kids in the class who should be tested for

In 4-5 years I will be enrolling in a teacher's credential program. My intended program of choice is Health Science, I will be responsible for promoting safe sex and saying no to drugs. However, within the past few years I have used marijuana. I don't plan on using it ever again but I'm concerned that it is in my HAIR. Does anyone know if they do a strand test on all teachers? Please save your comment if you feel I am not cut out to be a teacher because I have used marijuana. It actually makes me MORE fit to deal with these issues because I have witnessed drug use and unplanned pregnancy first hand, which is why I feel strongly about these causes in the first place. I am only asking to see if I need to cut my hair at some point to avoid a positive reading.

OK , so last year my school had uniform and it still does. The top has to be a polo and the colors royal blue , gold , and white. So me and my friends would wear navy blue and yellow shirts from a&f and hollister etc. with an undershirt , and sometimes the shirts would button all the way down to our cleavege and we would cover that COMPLETELY with an undershirt. The adminestrators never said anything about this last year therefor we bought the same type of clothes in the summer and are wearing them now problem is there sating know its a violation to the drees code and are underdhirts are LANGERIE?! That really aggarveted me because we are all good students with honor/gifted classes and there tryng to give us a violation for a slight difference in color , were there are kidds that pass right by them high and drunk with pants below there asss HOW can i protest this in an effective way without getting a violation or worse?? and make an effective statement suggestions Please and advice.

Well Iam a educationist and by the ideas I gained from other teachers i have started to grade the student's homework assignment to encourage them to do better and create a healthy atmosphere of competition, then a problem Iam facing is to what to do with students who dont submit their assignment on time.
If I give them F it might be too harsh and then sometimes those students do great job in their assignment and it doesnt feel right then to give them F. Another option is to lower their grade. Please share your ideas
