I would say from experience the positives:

You get to work with young minds who are hopefully motivated to learn
Every day is different
You teach children from different backgrounds and beliefs
You feel satisfied you have made a difference on children
The holidays
You form a good relationship with parents and carers
You learn good strategies for dealing with children

The negatives:
You have to attend meetings after school
You have to write reports
You have to follow the National Curriculum if you teach in England
There are SATS tests if you teach Years 2, 6 and 8 in England

I teach children in the Nursery and as a man I feel that I am good role model and the children all like me.

Good luck

If you want to make a difference to peoples lives become a teacher.

Positives - Rewarding when students do well
Good Pay
Nice holidays

Negatives - Little respect from certain parents and pupils.
Long Hours.
Lots of Planning.
Lots of Marking.

Despite people whinging about teachers having great holidays, it is one of the few professions that you need to work without being paid. By that I mean teachers pay is calculated on a 35 hour week, but you will probably end up working a 70 hour week while you are in school. So the holidays are needed to recoup.

In my experience of teaching it is not the pupils or parents that cause issues for teachers, it is fellow teachers. This will become a huge bug bear when you start teaching.

Negative-Politicians trying to run education, lack of parental involvement, seeing and experiencing child abuse, not enough time in the day to get things done right!

Positives-You make a difference in someones life, students telling you, you look pretty today when you feel like crap, respect from people around you, holidays off, you taught the next generation!

Teaching is a really hard job. If you think teaching is stress free then you are looking at the wrong job. It is a very hard job. More than 50% of teachers leave within 5 years of teaching. If you love making a difference and can handle parents, administrators, and tough students, along with a passion for education consider teaching!

It used to be the best job in the world, but to answer your question, the negatives now far outweigh the positives. Not only are our political masters telling us what to teach, they`re telling us when, and how to teach it. They expect us to maintain discipline, but they`ve emasculated our disciplinary powers. The exams are so easy that it`s becoming an achievement to fail them ! The syllabi that we are given no longer prepares our pupils for either serious higher study, nor does it prepare them for life after school. I suggest that you think very carefully about becoming a teacher.

Well, intermediate is a pretty stable place I believe. Most of the kids listen to you and you have some that really do love there teachers they're very enthusiastic and just go with the flow. You have to worry about accidents, tantrums, and might need to occasionally bribe though.
Highschool is a different atmosopere the kids are moody and have attitudes.(lmost everyone I talked to said they would hate being a highschool teacher.)
College is a little like highschool except most people are probably less likely to act out there's more adults and allot more maturity in that field
Middle school is just a combinstion of intermediate and highschool.
Good luck!Hope this helped.

The positives pop up all over the place, every day. Teachers work with real people with real problems and a massive array of personality traits! So you never know when one of them will make you feel ten feet tall. The one negative is being blindsided by a complaint from someone you don't know and probably never will. It happens to all of us and is devastating because we do work hard. So now you know.
