Mathru devo bhava, Pithru devo bhava, Acharya devo bhava;

Gurur Brahma, Gurur Vishu, Gurur devo Maheswaraha, Guru Sakshath parabrhma thasmai sree Gurave namaha.

The guru, i.e., the teacher has equal platform with our parents and even God. Such is our system. The teacher shows us the light; he who takes us from darkness to brightness. Nothing can be achieved without Gurukrupa. Yes. Everything is accepted. The qualities associated with the gurus to raise up to the esteemed equal status with parents and God are mostly missing. The humble, pious, and simple living status has taken the back seat. The very personality, attire, look of the earstwhile teachers are not found. Nowadays it is becoming very difficult to separately identy the reverred teachers from the students' mass by their behaviour and appearance. They even share and participate in some of prohibited habits and urchinlike activities. Though the majority of the teachers are not bracketed in this group, even the small percentage makes the whole lot stink and spoil the community. Hence the first step before drawing the line in regulating students is to identify the lot among them who are not upto the qualities and advise them of their shortcomings. Arrange for special moral classes for them. The second step is to address the real genuine problems of the teachers community as a whole. Most of them are leading poor life, hand to mouth earnings, particularly in elementary stages. Housing, medical needs are not taken care of. This extra care and attention bestowed on the teachers community will naturally push them to behave politely with the students. Placing them in satisfactory level, will reflect upon their dealing with the students. They will be more polite, honest and tension free personalities. Only such teachers can really draw a line for the students too, because it requires a free mind. The free mind will think the ways and means to control and discipline the students community not only in following the stipulated guidelines but also to form new methods adopted to the present day complex nature wherein the students community are forced to move about with no guarantee for their future life. A teacher has to be firm as well as kind. He has to be amidst the students always without forgetting he is a teacher. He has to try with all the ways and means at his disposal to manage any set of students but only by showering love and affection as he has over his own children. They viz; the teachers are persons who have to talk more and do less corrective punishments and they viz; the students are persons who have to do more and talk less to get appreciation.

physical punishment is illegal. I see a lot of teachers ridiculing their students which is not right either. They should not only discipline when a student does something wrong but should also make sure the student knows why it is wrong. A teacher should also spend more time talking about what students are doing right, they are more likely to choose better behavior that way.
I point out positive behavior and when I have to address the negative I give timeouts or talk to the parents after school. As well as reinforce why the rule is important to follow.

Disciplining and sadism are two very different things. Teachers should know the difference. Teachers job is to teach and to inculcate good old fashion values like politeness and good manners. To ridicule a child especially in the presence of his peers may have lasting affect on the child. The pupil also has his responsibility and it is not a bad thing to start at an early age. Spare the rod and spoil the child went out with the Victorian age.

Why should the teachers think of disciplining students. Are the Indian students rowdy elements?

Teachers job is teaching. Disciplining job is to be done by policemen or Army people.

Mother is the first greatest teacher. Indian mothers are very much selfish and don't care about their own children. Father is busy with his professional work and dont have any time for his children. Hence, Indian children are bound to suffer and I don't see any solutions for the immediate future.

* by showing teacher's discipline, sincerity, well equipped knowledge and interested in make the students well disciplined / educated teacher has to gain confidence and the children will be in a position the watch or here from them.

Its difficult to say how, where and when to draw a line. However, teacher has to review every time and every situation based on the students mind and attitude to discipline him and see that it will not be a burden on both sides. Aim is to get a positive response every time.

Good question, and a sensitive one too at that.. In my opinion, there should be no line at all. The pattern of life goes like this. First Mother. Through her one gets to know father. Through teachers one gets closer to God. The teachers, holding no bar in guiding the students, command great respect, even after retirement. Respect is the child of deepest gratitude and appreciation of what the teachers did to them. Should you need elaborated view, Pl. contact.

Extreme measures such as torturing such an extent that break bones of body or oozing blood from student's body is the extreme measure oftentaken by teachers for the sake of restoring declipine.I think due to growing intolerance in human society is one of the main cause of such extreme measures.We have forgot the lessons of Lord Buddha,Lord Jesus, Mahatma Gandhi etc.That preaching should be taught among Teachers& students.Human values should be the yardstick for teaching.

Before drawing a line, teachers really need to understand students. & once they do, it all becomes easy. They should also keep in mind a few simple things like to not hurt students' self-respsect & not be biased towards a particular student. Once teachers become friends, i don't think it will be difficult for them to control students.
