Teaching - September 2007

i am considering secondary ed. as a profession...i think i may like working with middle schoolers rather than high schoolers. can anyone tell me the pros and cons, and what are the job prospects? will i be likely to find a job?

I have a lot of past high school students who write me emails, etc. Whenever I write back, I always put "Best, Amanda." Is it inappropriate for me to respond back to these kids and use my first name rather than my professional (Mrs. _________) name?
