I wonder if this question is a send-up or if you speak English as a second language.

The very first essay I ever assigned was "tell me about yourself." One student wrote, "i dont nuthin bout english." He failed to capitalize the pronoun "I" or the proper noun "English," and he misspelled "don't," "nothing," and "about." He left out the word "know." He used a double negative ("don't know anything" would have been correct). He even left the period off the end of the sentence. But he was determined to work and to improve, and by the middle of the year, he wrote one of the best developed essays I got. It still was badly edited, but he had made progress.

If the question was serious, I'd like to know why you want to be an English teacher, where you are, what level you want to teach, etc. The answer I give you about what you need could be more on-target.

Well, you will need a degree in Secondary Education, with a minor or emphasis on English Literature. Most every university has a school of education.
