Has anyone received donations from TARGET or WALMART? Teaching special education kindergarten and we need so much stuff. Any info would be nice. I live in Los Angeles county.

I have not personally received donations from these stores but other teachers at my school have. I am pretty sure that at Walmart you need to contact the store closest to your school. I'm not sure about Target - but go to their main corporate website and take a look at community based things. We have also gotten things from big corporations in our area like back packs filled with school supplies and one year we got new winter coats for about 50 kids. You might first contact the manager at your local stores and ask them about educational grants and donations. I sure know where you are coming from. I teach in an economically disadvantaged school in Illinois and teach special ed K-1. Good luck. Emily

Since you are special education, your department should give you extra money to buy for you classroom. I would also try the website iloveschools.com where you can ask companies to donate items or money to purchase items for your classroom. Walmart is really good at giving you donations for your class. Try writing a grant to get items there are several out there.

No, I've always wondered who gets it. They always list how much they give away, but I never see the money in my school.
