The teaching job market in MI is horrible. This was my second year looking for an elementary public school teaching position. No luck. I am now determined to get out of state by next summer. I'm looking for a cool and safe city/suburb (preferably east coast) in need of teachers.

**Also, I am huge into music/concerts, so a place that has great indie/rock venues would be perfect.

Thank you!!!

My son is in 1st grade and his teacher has a 5 color system for behavior. He told me today if he goes to the bathroom and has to go by himself he has to change colors. This disturbs me, because I told the teacher he had to urinate frequently. My child isn't an angel - he likes to clown, so being on green isn't something I see often. We always discuss his behavior and I've come down hard on him at times due to the color he brought home. But being on red because he had to pee? IF I have a doctor's note, then it could change. They didn't find anything wrong, so I need a specialist. I do have a problem with this being part of the behavior plan. She said it was so she wouldn't get abused - if they're unsupervised in the hallway, it's a big problem. They're first grade! I am, by the way, a former teacher - elementary and middle school. I can't imagine telling a child they can't go to the bathroom, though I have had to be an escort at times. I know kids can be trouble. What are your thoughts?

Here is my story... what is yours?

ha ha - good old ms. spain. she was psychotic. 4th grade year, advent espicopal day school in birmingham, alabama (a very affluent private school). she once emptied her daughter's ballet bag (underwear and all) out in the middle of class bc she was mad at her for forgetting to put something in there. even though i didn't care for her daughter, i remember feeling really sorry for her (the daughter of course). she had 3 *pets* who could do no wrong and got to do everything special. (yes, she really did call them that.) she would read our math notebook grades out loud to the entire class and make comments about our intelligence - humiliating to anyone who wasn't her favorite. she also had fights with her husband in the middle of class and assigned up to 4 hours of homework a night (for 4th graders!!!!). she turned a blind eye to the bullies (to the point of calling the poor victims liars and making examples of them in front of the class - whi

Hi, I'm a 19 year old that was very bad at school and used to muck up and never do my school work, i left highschool early and found that life isn't great without knowledge, i have some pluses, but i want to increase my intelligence and learn what i should of at school, since i'm still young i believe i can still become somthing fairly good since that's my goal, i want to learn calculus because i find it interesting, and it looks like a very helpful tool. I have tried browsing, but most sites were mostly continueing from the fundamentals of calculus. I don't really believe that i will turn into einstein if i know calculus, but i find it interesting, so i find that is a good start to learning somthing which requires using your brain. If anyone would like to help me through my journey of education, feel free to add me on msn or email me at Dimebag.Daniel@hotmail.com

1. What are your weaknesses as a teacher?
2. What is a difficult situation with a child and how did you handle it? (motivation or management)
3. What mistakes have you made with a child and how did you learn from it?

How honest do I be with these questions? I am not asking for answers to these questions...just advise for how to answer them.
