For some people, good penmanship comes naturally. For others, it's a struggle just to make it legible. If you fall into the latter category, there are ways you can go about improving your handwriting.

Steps:
1. Find an example of handwriting you like and might want to imitate. This will give you a goal.

2. Buy some lined paper in a rule you're comfortable with, whether that's wide-, college- or narrow-ruled.

3. Choose a pen or pencil you like using. Keep in mind that this writing instrument doesn't have to be a Mont Blanc to be the right one for you.

4. Realize that practicing and perfecting will be an ongoing process. To truly improve your handwriting, you must work on it enough that the improvements become natural behavior.

5. Develop a test sentence for yourself and write it at the top of your first practice page. At the beginning of each new week, write this sentence at the top of a new page to help you gauge your progress.

6. Begin with individual letters and practice writing at least one letter per day, incorporating the improvements that will help you reach your goal. Concentrate on overall letter formation, the size of ascenders and descenders, the slant of each letter, and beginning and ending strokes.

7. Move on to complete words once you've made it all the way through the alphabet. Pay attention to character spacing, the way your letters flow from one into the next, and the spacing you place between words.

8. Practice, practice, practice until your handwriting looks the way you want it to.

Tips:
Utilize downtime during boring meetings, seminars, lectures, doctor's office visits and so on to practice your handwriting. This will be far more useful in the long run than your usual doodles.

I wish I could help you, but I'm afraid to tell you that I am actually stuck in the same boat with you. My handwriting is sooo bad that when I had to present a paper a long time ago in school I actually had to ask my professor to read parts of my own handwriting that I couldn't understand :-)

I wish you luck ...and if you succeed, pleeeeeease tell me how you did it :-)

I know this sounds weird but it works, use one of those pens that u have to refill ink into, i think they're called fountain pens, they have a tip kind of shaped like an arrow. Then practice writing paragraphs from ur favorite book over and over again, this way u're handwriting and speed will increase. You'll be able to write neatly w/o taking forever. Hope this helps.

well, i still have sorta bad handwriting.... but i'm guessing the easiest way to change bad habits is to relearn them again. So, i'm suggesting that you maybe print out the alphabet from the computer (because everyone wants computer handwriting :) ) and then you simply try to copy it to the best of you abililty until you get used to it.

I'm sorry if this isn't helpful at all, but good luck.

I easily have horrendous handwriting. each and every so often my letters easily come out constructive, one after the different, yet i will't cope with to pay for to take a seat for an hour to write down out a letter or something. persistence does look the main important nevertheless, while you're taking it slowly you could formulate words extra intently, making them look extra useful. in case you have not got the time to do it intently, there is somewhat no longer the rest you're able to do. the form you write has been under pressure out in you for the reason which you began; you will might desire to coach as long as you have been alive to reconfigure your form of writing.

I can write nicely if I go very slow and concentrate, but if I'm just jotting a note down quickly, my handwriting's the worst!

Practice neat handwriting. I had a sixth grade teacher that was adamant about neat handwriting.

Take your time and write a few sentences out really nice, take your time and try to get it to look really nice, do it letter by letter Then jsut reapeat it over and over. Once you have drilled it into your brain you will pick up a new technique. But if you only think about it from tiem to time it wont work. You have a life time of habit to get over, it will take constant practice.

As with the other answers you need to practice but a little thing i do when I want to write neater is slow down and make all the letters nice and round.
