San Juan is the current capital. Ponce used to be the capital up until 1898 and it is now the second largest city in Puerto Rico. Yes. it's at the south of the island. Ponce is known as La Perla Del Sur. Translation...the Pearl of the South because of it's natural beauty and scenery.
