My sister says it does not matter who you are in high school because the nerds in high school will become successful and they will be good looking while the popular kids become fat, ugly and unsuccesful. That is what my sister said. Is that true

When I went to high school, there were no deans. What is a dean, as opposed to a principal? I'm looking at a school where they have a principal, 4 assistant principals, and a handful of deans.

The school where I work goes back on Jan 2nd. I absolutely HATE this because it really messes up my New Year's Day. Is it a common thing to go back on the 2nd or is my school unusual?

My wife is a music teacher and came across music books/cd's for children. Its called "Wee Sing"
Lots of the music in it have so much slave music that it seems racist.
Shes half african american and feels it would be weird teaching school kids songs about picking cotton.

Anyone heard of this "Wee Sing"
Has their been controversy before?

I am a tenth grader and I am pretty sure my goal is shot, but maybe there is some encouragement out there. My freshman year I had an all together weighted average of 3.56. This year, my first nine weeks I started off with a 3.375 weighted. Ths next nine weeks I will have a 4.175-4.375. And the next two nine weeks I am confident I will have around a 4.5. The reason I am putting this here is I want to know if there is still a chance for me to be put in the top ten people w/ the highest GPAs or are my chances pretty much shot. This has been stressing me out and I would like for you guys to be honest. I appreciate all the people who will read and answer this question. Thanks.

Also, do you get quality points for being in Dual Enrolled classes

I'm a beginning French student, 9th grade, first year. I have a 85% average right now and its driving me crazy because in all my other classes I have A's. I am also enrolled in a highly rigorous accelerated high school and I have midterms in three days. Can someone please tell me how to study for this and what exactly people make the most mistakes on so I can concentrate on that.

I've noticed on numerous occasions questions being posted in Yahoo Answers that appear (to me at least) to be homework questions.

That begs the question, do the teachers who assign these questions realize that some of the answers turned in by student's are not actually the student's own work?

I failed my senior year because of depression caused by child abuse. I didnt return to school but dropped out and moved in with my girlfriend because I couldn't be around my father becasue I was tired of getting hit, yelled at, and treated like crap. Anyway I got my GED. I always had decent grades untill my senior year when I completly shut down bc of my dad. I'm seeing a psychiatrist to get better. I always wanted to be a teacher. I took the ACT and got a 27, but I have a GED so could I still be able to go to a college to be a teacher? Would a highschool be less likely to hire me if I didnt graduate and only had a GED even if i aquired a teaching degree? I really want to be a teacher I always have.

I am currently at a crossroads in my career. I'm attempting to figure out whether or not to pursue teaching English at the Community College level or to obtain a credential and teach at the high school level. I'm aware of the working conditions for each, but my questions primarily cover two areas:

1) How much do adjunct professors typically make (in California) to maintain a living. Do they sometimes work at two different schools simultaneously?
2) Is there much opportunity to move up from an adjunct position to a full-time position? If so, what types of salaried positions to full-time community college faculty members make?
3) Financially speaking, in your opinion, would it be worth it to pursue a career at the community college level or at the high school level.

I am a freshman in high school and I am a kinesthetic learner. Which means I learn through moving, doing, and touching. I can't learn by listening to someone lecture or watching them do something. It is beginning to be very difficult to finish my homework. My teachers just don't do anything to target all of the different learning styles.

My parents just think I am making excuses and don't understand what my problem is. I ace my hands on classes like clay, metal, and science labs. It is starting to make me very frustrated with myself when I can't sit down and just do my homework.

I've gone half the year, but it keeps getting harder for me and I don't know if I will make it till May.

Is this my fault? How can I make my parents understand? How can I turn my homework into something fun that involves actually moving?
