I'm a first grade and fifth grade teacher and I've been offered a 12th grade English teacher position (aka my dream job), one 45-minute class a day, for the remainder of the school year while the teacher's away on maternity leave. I'm considering taking it, but I'd like to know what it would be like (especially as my experience is in elementary education), what you do to make class fun and interesting for your students and any pitfalls/warnings that I should think about. It's a small private school, so my class would only be about 15 students, if that, but I would love some advice from actual 12th grade teachers!!

I am going out for baseball this year and it will be my first time on the school team. I am in the 10th grade. I am starting early so I can get in the weight room and get into good shape

Height: 5 foot 11.5 inches
Weight: 145 lbs.

I'm VERY fast. I'm left handed. I have played casually.

My question is what should I do to prepare, and what position would probably suit me?

I love to read and I have good grades, but my best friend hates to read, but she is the smartest girl I know. She has perfect grades. We can check our grades, and we checked hers and she has 100's in every class. So does it really make you smarter in school?

How can teachers effectively teach while discipline problems occur daily in the classroom? Although parents are called, that doesn't always end the situation. I know it begins at home, but when there are no rules at home and the parents don't really care what happens at school, then how can the teachers make a difference?

I have a 96% GPA--my school only provides it in percentages. No college that reports its students' average high school GPAs reports them in percentages and I'd like to know what a 96% is on the 4.0 scale. I've searched online for ways to convert between the two and have found nothing. Help?
