I got my GED at 17 and went on to college that same year.
I have had no problems with not having a diploma at all.
You are only 14 so you do have a lot of time before this can all happen.

Good Luck to you!

The SAT doesn't mean you're done with high school. I took it in 7th, 9th, 11th, and 12th grade. A high SAT score will help you get into college, but colleges won't accept you without a diploma or GED. Most universities say in their acceptance letter "pending successful completion of your high school education".

If you're taking the GED at 17, it may hurt your chances getting into college. Most good colleges prefer a diploma to a GED.

The GED or SAT are only indicators of your abilities and will be used to determine if you can get into college. You cannot just quit high school if you get a good score on these tests because they are only one thing that colleges look at.
Good luck
