I don't feel like I'm on a quest for knowledge. I feel like I'm playing a game trying to make it in this world. Could I should finish out my Liberal Arts Associates and just teach myself? Yes I would like to own my own land, but maybe I'll just have to live life modestly in the city and just enrich myself in between shifts, both artisticly and intellectually.

I took this IQ Test: http://community.sparknotes.com/iq/

I got 75, do you think I can increase it if I go back to college as a mature student? I've been out of school for a few years... now I have doubts that when I have to learn new things it will never "snap into my brain" and learn.

My spanish professor unfairly grades. He tells me that I can pass his course if I work really hard, after the midterms, and I have been doing that and improving but when I talked to him today he goes, "You most likely won't pass. You have to pass the next test with an A to pass my course" and that is highly unlikely, why? He gave us over 100 words to study for Thursday and then today he gives us another 50 words to study for Thursday, a composition to write, a presentation to prepare, and workbook work. I don't think I'm wrong when I say that it is unreasonable for just two days. I called him out about it in class and he tells me that I don't know what I'm talking about and that he would never give us work he believes we couldn't manage. What does he know what we can't manage? This is his second semester teaching! And I go to him during office hours to ask for help but he brushes me off. Am I wrong? How should i complain to the dept? Should i make an appt or jus walk in? This is Span 2

so i am trying to apply to grad school in canada....i graduated form a US university with a 3.065 GPA and now I have 2 yrs working experience with reliable references (managers and above). But still every canadian university is saying I must have a B+ average from school. It doesnt make sense to me. I graduated almost 2 ys ago ...a lot has changed since then, you cannot use my grades then to determine how good i would perform in grad school. Has anyone ever been in this situation? If so pls advise on what i can do. Thanks

I am fluent in Italian and I think it would be awesome to teach Italian..it would probably be at the college level becuase I usually never hear of high schools or junior high schools offering Italian..maybe private high schools do, but I'm not sure. What kind of degrees would I need? A Master's and PhD in Italian? Also, would I need to be fluent in another language? It seems most of my professors in undergrad who taught a foreign language knew at least 2 languages.

I know a teen who is interested in becoming a doctor. She knows she'll have to do a degree first then apply to medical school. One of her concerns is that she won't get the grades she needs in her first degree to be able to enter medical school. Would medical school be entirely out of the question for her then, or would she be able to do something to still get in?

So I know there are all these fuss about affirmative action when it comes to college admission. There are those people who are historically less advantage than others. However, does it make it right for colleges to give a better advantage towards certain minorities? I had a friend who was Asian, he worked his *** off in high school. He was probably the most dedicated guy I ever met. He wanted really hard to get into Duke University, which was his dream school. When he got his admission results in April of last year, he was rejected. He later found out someone else from our school got into Duke who happened to be a latino with a much lower grade academics, in terms of scores and grades and everything that my friend had done in high school. I have never seen someone so heart broken. He said he was discriminated. He said he worked so hard and put so much effort just so he could be rejected because of his race. Is it fair?
