I dont know you, and unless I heard the dean's side of it I cannot say either way.
However, before you blow your top any more than you have, ARE you adult enough to REALLY be honest with yourself even if it hurts?
If you arent then you will never grow to maturity and you will never learn the most important things in life.
The question is:
Is there even the tiniest bit of truth in what the dean said?
Think before you answer.Do you blow up and insult people if they have different opinion than you do?Or do you listen patiently and try to understand where they are coming from?
Do berate and belittle people and act arrogant towards them?
Do you show kindness, patience, sympathy and compassion/Or do you always let them have it with "both barrels" even though you have done the same things or just as bad?
You can spend all the money in the world to go to a colege, but if what the dean is saying is true, and you wont be honest with yourself, then your money is spent in vain o matter WHERE you sepnd it at,even if its at a college where the dean tells you what you WANT to hear.I am NOT saying YOU are what the dean says, because I do not know either, way but YOU CAN answer that question one of 2 ways, truthfully, or dishonestly.

You pay money to get an education and learn to become a productive member of society, not to live in a bubble thinking you're perfect the way you are. The school would be failing you if you graduated without any interpersonal skills. Learn to communicate effectively (in speech and in writing), stop being so angry and defensive (it's childish), accept the positive criticism (consider it a favor that the dean cared enough to point out an area you need to work on), stop feeling so entitled and perfect, and learn to work with people, even those you do not like. Also, being stubborn is not how you "represent onself" and the fact that you think so only reflects your immaturity. Part of being a professional and an adult requires that you learn how to handle difficult situations and conflicts with grace and tact. The dean didn't get to where she is by bullying people into kissing up to her. All she's asking/suggesting is that you reflect upon yourself and work on your interpersonal skills (which will hinder your success in life if you do not possess them) and better yourself. Rather than be insulted, I would arrange to sit down and talk to in a calm and adult manner, and have her explain to you what incidents that made her think you lacked interpersonal skills, how you come across to people, and what are ways to improve. By doing so and not losing your temper, you'll give the dean an chance to see you act as an adult while learning some invaluable life lessons.

I would sit down with the Dean and ask him to explain his conclusions about interpersonal skills. Make sure to do so with an open mind, then you will be able to either admit that you do need help in that area or the Dean is off her rocker. Also asking for clarification will hopefully gain the Dean's respect and that will go a long way.

Greetings, With the amount of money you paid they should be been alot nicer but maybe they are just trying to help you. I would do a self evaluation as to why they thought that you didn't have the skills, like how you relate to situations, if there was a better way to handle a situation, ect and then try to find a way to improve myself then move on.

I don't wanna sound mean but everyone has room for improvement, maybe instead of holding your own, you could have just asked why they thought that? I know at times I come off saying wrong things or doing things that people mis-interpreted and when they said what it was and why they felt that way, I realized I could have done it better or said it different, that may just be what they mean.

First, "representing" while certainly makes one feel better, often amounts to poo. Second, it's generally not in your best interest to take the dean of liberal arts on, especially when he/she is holding your degree as leverage. Best idea, as is usually the case when you're a student and in charge of precisely zilch, is to take criticism from your mentor (even when you hate them), and smile and say something smooth like, "you know, i'm aware of my weakness in communications and it's something i'm committed to improving, thank you though for your suggestion". There's another skill you are in college to learn, and it's called professionalism. That means you don't "represent", or set the record straight with people who determine you fate. If you feel you must, you'd better be prepared for what she will do in response which could ultimately mean kicking you out of LAS all together. Good luck

All of the above are great answers and if I were you I'd try to learn from my experience rather than being defensive.
Even your Dean's comment is a chance for you to gain some insight and better yourself in your weak areas.
It is a sign of maturity to accept our mistakes and try to avoid them in the future.
The fact that you pay for your education should not mean that you pay to act there as you like, just that you pay to learn how to become a valuable member of the society later on.
Please read all the above answers really carefully, a lot of strangers took a lot of time to give you some valuable advice.
What you will do with it (advice) is up to you now
Good luck :)

And you have a problem accepting criticism. Interpersonal skills are skills dealing with people. Depending on what you plan on doing after college, you may need interpersonal skills. Find out what they are. I don't think she was asking you to kiss anything, but that is the way you took it. Chill out, life is not that difficult.

Yes, your dean is right! You should be polite enough to anybody. Showing politeness is one of the qualities of having good interpersonal skills. Good luck! It's never too late to learn from your mistakes.
