This question is for all the MBAs and if i say in other words then what is imporatant? the knowledge of heavy books or the corporate practicality?

Unless and untill you are not studying in a college you can not get that knowledge which will help you in the practical. the main point is why do a child go to school when he can be taught the knowelge how to live and manners form his parents? this is because we get other and all sort of knowledge from his peers and from his teachers that he cannot even get from books. So both things are important your purse will remain heavy if you will have knowledge otherwise you will be kicked out from all offices

I think an MBA which teaches you only heavy books is not good for you. Premier institutes in India hardly follow heavy books. Atleast not in IIM-A. What one gains is from the knowledge that is on offer, the insights that you receive in different fields by the virtue of experience sharing. (Your friends would all be from different backgrounds, professors even different). It is necessary to have conceptual knowledge before starting to face practical situations. Think about a guy interested in accounts wanting to learn all the concepsts after joining the company rather than doing b.cOm, it may be a disaster for the company as well as him.
As rightly pointed out, if there is no need of conceptual knowledge then why do we go to school... just leave the kid to survive and learn on his own...i am sure you all know what will happen...

You don't go to school for corporate practicality; you get a job for that. What an MBA offers that work experience does not is a much broader exposure than you would get from working at one company. That isn't always provided through "heavy books", but it is provided in a classroom setting involving theory which can be applied in a variety of ways, not just war stories of what some individual did at work.
