I just started studying for the GMAT by taking a diagnostic test. Is it just me or are the data sufficiency questions ridiculously hard? I am feeling very discouraged and am starting to think grad school is not for me. I have always been very business savy and usually get above average grades in all my business classes. I really don't think these questions have any baring on what kind of business practitioner I am or will become in the future.

Any advice on how to get better at these things?

Okay, I'm going to be a senior, and of course, I've been spazzing over college for the past year, even more so the past few months.

I've already accepted that, even though I could get into Pomona college (my first choice), I can't go, because it's too expensive. I can't apply for grants, because apparently, my parents make more money than I thought, and all that money is going into paying for mortgages.

So, I have to choose between a UC school, or a community college, instead of a small, liberal arts.

I like the local community college, and the local UC (UCR) school is alright too...
It's just that, I've worked SO hard in HS, I've got great grades, extracurriculars, etc etc... and to go to a CC or UCR, it doesn't seem equal to how much work I had put into my HS record you know? That bothers me more than ANYTHING.

I guess my real question is, since I'm likely to go to a CC, are the first two years like high school?
As in, they are the same at any other university or college?

I'm going to be a senior in high school this year and I am weighing my college options. I have decent grades...Advanced Placement Program, National Honors Society, but I'm not like really above anyone...my GPA isn't very high anymore (3.29 unweighted, 3.69 weighted ), and I got an 1160 (out of 1600) on the SAT first try and I will be retaking that this fall. I'm just not sure of my chances of getting into UF based on my acedemics so I was wondering whether or not I could have a better chance based on my music. I really want to do Gator Band and I play flute/piccolo, so I didn't know if there was anyway that could improve my chances rather than being just a student. If anyone knows please, any feedback is great.

when i am applying for college should i let them know that i had mono and missed a complete month of school and that is what screwed me over? I had good grades the next semester but the first semester was really bad because i was sick at the very end of the first quarter and the very beginning of the second quarter so i was still making up both quarters at the same time. It severely dropped my gpa and i am very stressed about it.

If I wanted to study myths and legends such as vampires, werewolves, etc, what would I major in at college?

I really like researching on my own time, theories and perceptions on lycanthropy, and other unusual legends.

Would it be some sort of history?

I am only 13 years old, and investment banking is something i've always been interested in. I have money invested in stocks and I already know a lot about the NYSE. I always have wondered how many years it would take me to go through college get my bachelors and masters, then my MBA from a good college like University of Michigan, Duke University or University of Florida. Any answers or suggestions would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

Okay, I plan on officially asking my college about this, but I figured I would also ask on here and see what people have to say.

I got an F in a core sociology class. Therefore, I have to re-take this class. I transferred schools after so I will not be taking it at the same school.

When I retake the sociology class, will the F I previously recieved STAY on my transcripts and lower my GPA? Or will it be replaced with the newly achieved grade?

It worries me because this one mistake may cost me a lot in the future. I don't know how much one F affects an entire college gpa, but I really am hoping to fix it.

Just wondering if I could get a better deal on textbooks online. I have ask a bookstore in an Oklahoma Community College bookstore and they said they couldn't give me that information. I've been told there is a law against not giving that info, if they were asked. Thanks in advance.

i've been in college 4 yrs now but never lived in a dorm.
my friend is just going to college and i'm helping her shop/pack for the dorm.
can anyone provide a list of useful stuff?
maybe stuff you found out later you really needed.
btw, she doesn't have a mall near the campus (it's about an hr drive) so she really can't just get the stuff when she moves.
thanks!

Hey,
I'm a student at UCSD. I went to Calcopy to purchase my book for my Phil 163 class yesterday and the owner of the store switched my $20 bill, and gave it back to me claiming that it was a fake. The money that I used to pay with, I had just taken from the ATM, and the $20 that he gave me, claiming was mine, was old, and folded up, and wrinkled. It clearly wasn't mine, but when I insisted that it wasn't, he kicked me out of the store. I kept arguining with him, and he eventually gave me $40 back, and the $20 fake, which still leaves me down $15, and I have no book. He is a crook, and you should never deal with him if at all possible. If you have to, then use a debit card. I am going to tell my teacher, Mr. Doppelt about this, tell everyone that you know too. I also called that Turko guy.
Thanks.

Hello i'm 16 and going into my junior year and i'm in big trouble. I messed up really bad my first 2 years. I mean really bad. I flunked almost every class last year and 3 classes my fist year. But now I wish I haven't. I'm so worried about my future. What options do I have left. By that I mean If i buckle down and get straight A's would I be able to get into a good University. And what if I don't can I still get a good job. Like atleast over 50k a year. And what kind of jobs can you get if you get a GED or are homeschooled. (My mom suggested I get my GED or Homeschooled or continue in Highschool. Which option is better if i'm willing to try my hardest. Please help, I'm worried i'll be a failure.
