when i am applying for college should i let them know that i had mono and missed a complete month of school and that is what screwed me over? I had good grades the next semester but the first semester was really bad because i was sick at the very end of the first quarter and the very beginning of the second quarter so i was still making up both quarters at the same time. It severely dropped my gpa and i am very stressed about it.

will they take it into consideration when they are looking through all of the transcripts?

Have the doctor who treated you write a letter explaining that you were out for a certain amount of time due to your illness and include it in your application with your transcripts. Also include letters from your counselors and teachers verifying what the doctor said and explaining that before and after that tiime period your grades and work ethics were above average. You had what is considered an extenuating circumstance and the letters should stifle any worries the college admissions board may have about your poor GPA during that time period.

It is best if you do it without looking like you are trying to make excuses for yourself. Talk about how you overcame the hardship rather than about how the hardship screwed you over. If at all possible, have your references mention it specifically, because then it isn't you who is trying to point it out.
