Hello everyone, I'll be graduating high school next month in the middle east. I've been living here for 3 years with my parents (in Egypt). I'll graduate with a 70% grade point average (average) and I am very comfused about what I want to major in college. I am so interested in medicine (it's a bachelor's degree here) but here's the problem, there are two different types of colleges here, private and public. In order to be accepted in medicine at the private ones you should have a GPA of 65% but in order to be accepted in the public ones you should have a GPA of 95%. For some reason I feel I don't deserve to be in med school and I won't do well because I couldn't do well in high school. Do you think I'm right? Do you incourage me to apply or not? :) Do you think I'm gonna suck in med school?

Well the question is whether or not I should apply for law school, thing is up until this semester (which happened to be my last) I've basically told myself I cant get into Law. Roughly my GPA was just a little above average and I only had 2 A's (one supposedly needs at least 7 to even be considered) Thing is I just got back my results and well.....I some how got four A's which means I only need one more to make the cut and I'm doing one additional course for summer. Should I take the plunge after all God sure has been far more than helpful in ponting em in the right direction....

Does anyone know the GPA or a rough idea of the GPA required to transfer into these universities for a bachelor's of pharmacy? What is the difference between the programs in the US and Canada, if I get a bachelor's of pharmacy in the US will I be able to work in Canada? Is it easier to be accepted in the US or Canada? I am graduating from grade 12 in less then a month, i've already accepted an offer by a university for a bachelor's of arts in geography but I realize there are almost no jobs in that area so i've decided to transfer universities and programs after my first year of university. I heard it is really hard to get in so im wondering what the best options are and if I should even apply for transfer. What would be the high school average be compared to the GPA needed for a transfer into pharmacy?
Canada
University of British Columbia
University of Alberta

USA

Joe won a lottery jackpot that will pay him $12,000 each year for the next ten years. If the market interest rates are currently 12%, how much does the lottery have to invest today to pay out this prize to Joe over the next ten years?

My initial answer is this.....But I'm not sure if I did it right. I saw somone else do it where you increase the interest every year; however it is saying how much do they invest toaday. So I'm all confused.

Winning prize of $12,000 x 10yrs = $120,000
Interest per year @12% = $1,440 x10 yrs = $14,400
The total investment over the next ten years paid out for Joe’s winning lottery is $134,400.

Thank you for you help!

Well, I am going to be a senior in high school and this summer I literally don't have time for a job. I am going to NYC and Hawaii to visit colleges. Also, I am traveling to Spain with a college program for a month. This means that I only have two weeks available in the summer, but everywhere I go will not allow me to work this short.

I probably should have gotten a summer job last year. I can not work during my senior year because I have a full schedule of classes (AP and advanced classes), plenty of clubs I'm committed to, a bowling league, and community service.

I noticed that on resumes, there is ALWAYS a spot for employment. Should I skip this section or what should I write instead of "Although I haven’t had a paying job, being a student, participating in a wide range of extracurricular activities, and donating my time to the community has been a job of its own."?

And also, do colleges look for jobs on resumes? Will it look bad if I never had one?
