Higher Education (University +) - March 2007

Several years ago I became a university professor. For 15+ years prior to that as a working professional, I wasn't a neat freak by any stretch, but if I needed to, I could get my office back into good shape within a few hours. Now it seems completely beyond my control. There's one secretary for the entire department, and she has a bad back, so it's not as if I can delegate my filing to anyone else. There never seems to be enough time in a day to get my work done, deal with all the students who want to talk, AND manage the influx of paper. I don't recall EVER having so much of it to deal with before! I feel like I'm being buried alive in the stuff, and I don't want to become like some of my colleagues who just create what appear to be perpetual towers of doom in every corner. Help!!

I'm a senior in highschool and will be attending Bergen Community College;of Paramus, New Jersey; this fall (due to money issues). Eventually I'd like to ransfer and continue an education in Pharamcy. I don't want to waste my time in the community college and take unneeded classes so which degree program should I take? I was guessing maybe an A.S. Natural Sciences or Math - General, I feel so lost... please help!!

so, I want to be a doctor of some kind, and I know that for college I'm going to be doing a lot of sciences but is it more chemistry based, or biology based? Also, am I going to have to take a lot of math, or just up to calc.? I'm a junior this year, and next year I could take calculus, but I'm not good at math. Well, I'm good enough to be a year ahead, but I don't think I'd do very well in calculus. would there be any point in taking physics, when I could take calculus instead?

I've been in college for nearly 3 years and I feel that it is just a waste of my time. So far I've been taking the general education requirements because I just declared my major to "hospitality management." I wanted to know if this degree will help me at all in becoming a successful chef. I've looked up some famous chefs such as Gordon Ramsay, Emeril Lagasse, and Bobby Flay and none (from wikipedia anyways) have a degree in regular college but just culinary schools (ie none of them have a hospitality degree). I have a scholarship so thats why I'm still in school, but am I just wasting my time? Should I drop out and go to culinary school ASAP? This is the toughest decision of my life. I would appreciate it if anyone in the culinary field would reply.

Ok, i am freaking out, i am a third year psychology student, its the fourth week of the semester and the amount of work just made me feel sooo stressed out, its so hard to concentrate and i feel quite lost with the course (and we are not even tackilng main assignments yet!!!)that i chanced my enrolment to part time studies, that means i only have to deal with half of the study load, it will take me however two years to finish rather than just one. i dont think i am physically and emotionally fit to tackle third year fully, i have back and weight issues that i need to address and have been diagnosed with mild depression, i am currently working on these things but it just feels there is not enough time to study. I feel very guilty though, i know plenty of people manage to juggle study, work , children etc and i also feel stupid for not being able to keep up with the work. I guess my question is, should i have kept the full time load, do you think i am being too easy on my self?

Would you please introduce me a Noun that means ‘person able to read, write, speak, and comprehend a language’?

I know- a noun ‘literate’ means ‘person able to do 2 skills, reading and writing’ -, but need to know the Noun that means ‘person able to do 4 skills, reading writing speaking and comprehending’.

I need to use the Noun in a question that will be titled “Verb that means ‘order’” and posted by me at ‘General- Education & Reference’, ‘Higher Education’, and ‘Words & Word Play’ section of this Yahoo Answer.

I searched the Noun at following 8 thesaurus websites for two hours until 15 minutes ago, but could not find the Noun during the search:
