Right now I'm in my first year of community college and plan on transferring after next year to a private university -- not a state school. I'm in community college due to money constraints, to refine my studying skills and hopefully get some scholarship money. I want to transfer to a university so i can prove i do well in a more competitive atmosphere. I plan on staying at this particular university for a year. Then i plan on applying to another, more prominent university. By the time i apply to the more prominent university i will have been in my third year of schooling transitioning into my 4th year -- which is customarily around the time students graduate. Have you seen a case like this? Do you think my going to community college will make more of a reason for the more prominent university's admissions to not accept me? Even if i plan on commiting to the more prominent university for two years -- which tallies up to 5 years of undergrad?

I'm a freshman at a University and I have just begun my spring semester. I'm considering dropping out. I've done/am doing well in all my classes but financially I cannot do it. I only received a stafford loan and did not qualify for any additional aid. And I was unable to have a cosigner for any additional loans..everyone I knew/related has bad credit. Now, the remaining bill from last semester is being sent to a credit agency for non payment and I'm struggling and stressed out.
My question is..If I drop out this semester and work now through fall..will this hurt my chances of getting back into a University? What are the damages this can cause..anyone have to do this?

thanks

I'm a sophomore student in Nevada and in the future, I want to go to either Stanford or USC School of pharmacy. On my freshman year, I got all A’s except for Algebra for the first semester (I got a B), second semester I got all A’s. I took Spanish I,Health/Study Skills, Biology H, Algebra H and English H.My GPA was 3.9 something for the non-weighted on, for the weighted one I got 4.0 I think, and I believe that is a good GPA. however, I was not involved in any sports I guess since I’m not really athletic, and even if I want to I can’t, I don’t know any sports LOL, (my old school outside the country didn’t have any sports or whatever).
Now, I am sophomore year, and I am taking 4 honors classes, one AP,and art class. So far for the first semester I got all A’s, a B on Geometry H, but on my midterms I got 3 C’s, my question is, do you think based on my grades and my non-involvement, (but I will do community service in my junior year) I still have the chance to go either of those school?
