Russian Specialist Diploma. What U.S. degree is it equivalent to?

5 years Specialist degree in chemistry from russian university (including 1 year diploma research and defence). Is that equivalent to U.S. BS or MS degree?

It is atleast a B.S. - but I would suggest you contact a university in the United States or the US Embassy in Russia where they have information on that (a friend of mine who escaped from Cuba found out that way) or contact the US Department of Education.
