Hey, I am Eighteen, British and I want to study at the New York Film Academy the cost is $80,000 with accomodation. Unfortunately the NYFA is a privately run operation and thus not credited strictly as a University. Despite the fact greats such as Steven Spielberg and Pierce Brosnan have sent their sons to the NYFA....Is there any type of loan available to me in which I could pay once I am working??? At this stage any information would be more than appreciated

I've failed to graduate from my previous university now i would like to join a new university and graduate, my father claims he does not have money to spend on my studies anymore. But I'm sure if he can spend money on me this time i WILL make it and i have a very bright future. Please tell me how to convince him so that I may receive help from him for my studies. Thanks.

I received letters from various college stating that they cannot construct a financial aid package for me because they can't prove my citizenship using my social security number (I'm a neutralized citizen). How can I prove my citizenship since never took the time to apply for a passport? What documents can I give them?

I know that lots of info is stored in the SS, so how can I update my social security to show that I am a citizen?

Any suggestions or advice will be greatly appreciated!

My mother makes too much (70K+/yr gross income) for me to be able to get state grants (Washington State), and I am curious if I were to break free of being a dependent student that it would help me out by decreasing my "household" income. I figure that I could get married to a girl in the same situation and perhaps make things easier on myself. I have been living in my own apartment for two and a half years, so I would say that I have my own established residency, but I am truly clueless. Having good grades and being self-sustaining through work and loans make it feel like I should be receiving some kind of assistance. I work way to hard I believe to not be getting some support. Alternatively, if there is advice for people trying to make their way through school, while making excellent grades at a private college that doesn’t offer scholarships, then that would be appreciated too! Thank you!

This is not for me, its for my husband. He is planning on going back to school and is almost 20. I have tried Fastweb and some of the other well known sites and I dont like them. FAFSA is being a pain in the neck wanting his mothers tax info when he doesnt live with her... He is Hungarian/American (dual citizenship), child of surviving cancer patient and deceased Leukemia patient, former Boy Scout, and is supporting me and our soon to be born baby. What can he do? We do not want loans. Most of the scholarships are for minorities and it's irritating us. Please help, thanks.

My husband and I make too much money to qualify for financial aid apparently. I take out student loans to pay for my college and still have to spend about $4,000 extra per year b/c the loans don't cover my entire tuition/books.

A classmate of mine recently got a brand new coach purse, cellphone and new clothes. She was bragging that she got the money from her $500 pell grant refund.

Let me get this straight, her college is 100% paid, doesn't have to be paid back and STILL gets a refund back to spend on purses when I can barely cover tuition?

I'm all for gov helping people afford college but shouldn't they ONLY cover her tuition/books/fees and the rest go back to the gov?? MY tax dollars essentially paid for her new "accessories"

I, on the other hand don't qualify for ANY help whatsoever b/c my husband and I made $40,000 last year by working overtime. Can anyone explain the logic of the gov giving a "refund" to people who didn't pay anything to begin with??

Are there financial aid programs available for college programs beyond a baccalaureate degree? I though you could still get grants beyond a 4 year degree.

I was recently realeased from prison in Nebraska and have moved to Los Angeles, California with the 100 dollars and bus ticket they gave me. I'm homeless and have been here for two months. I am 21 years old, male, and healthy. This makes it pretty much impossible to get help. There's been tons of jobs that I can get but with living in shelters, which will no longer be open after march 15, and no where to put my stuff but carry it, I cannot work. I have a highschool diploma, and 1 year of college completed. I want to go to barber school, but I have no money and no where to live. I've tried to get into every program available in LA and have been unsuccessful. I cannot get a loan from a bank b/c I have not had an account open for atleast 3 months. If anyone is willing to loan me 15,000 dollars at any interest rate up to 25% over a 5 year period with me paying you back with $250.00 a month please contact me. I have references if you want them. I'll sign a notarized contract. Sum1 plz help

Which way is the best way to file income tax for 2006 - claim her or let her file herself and then be independent on the fafsa. I'm not sure which way will offer the most financial aid. We have 2 in college.

I am a senior at a CSU and will be done in December. I only have enough savings money left to see me through May, (if that). I am considering loans (because that is seemingly the most accessible option). I want to attend graduate school in Southern California at the beginning of next year and am applying now. I feel like I have so many goals and no way to get there. Any ideas for financing my way through college??? Please help.
